M42 in a cab

I've just read about a '91 E30 318i cab for sale that's claimed to have an M42 in it from the factory. I'd heard that US E30s other than the 318is got this motor but didn't think that was the case in the UK. Anyone know? Thanks

Thanks Blitz. The guy is claiming that very late E30 318i cabs made overlapping early E36 production got the M42 but I thought it sounded wrong

BS artist. Nice line though, almost sounds plausible. I bet someone falls for it!

Is it a blue one by any chance? I was looking at one a while back that the seller was claiming was M42ed, but wasn't!

No, it's a red J plate. I work in the same building as Classic Car Weekly and I saw a print out of one of the pages for the next issue where they try out cars for sale. There was no engine pic so I thought I'd better ask. Cheers, I'll mention it to them before they make tw@ts of themselves putting it in print

Not that it makes a huge amount of difference whether it was factory or not...!

Good fact to know though.
