E30 Zone

I have recently renewed the disks, pads and fluid for the front brakes and now want to do the rears. The car is off the road so not bled the fronts back in yet - waiting for a mte to come and do it.

I want to jack up the rear and wondered if just chocking the front wheels with bricks would suffice as obviously leaving it in gear will make no difference - a point I realised just in time!!!!!

You'll be fine with chocks. I've jacked the car up on the flat from the diff with no chocks and been fine. I'm not stupid enough to risk it on a slope, but my point is that you shouldn't worry if you're sensible...

Just out of interest, why use bricks, is the chock missing from the boot of your car, it should be in with the jack or spare wheel.

if I were you, assuming you've already got a pair of axle stands as you've done the fronts? I'd consider buying a second set (they're not expensive - £20?) then raising all corners which is probably a safer configuration, then keep it like that for bleeding as you or your mate can easily move around underneath it to get to the nipples.
There's a recommended sequence to bleeding, check in the Haynes, I usually bleed cylinder/calipers furthest away from master cylinder first, then the next furthest, so the fronts are usually last in the sequence.
Also if you're doing the spannering, wear some safety glasses or goggles it's nasty stuff if you catch an eyeful, I'm sure your friend already knows about that?
