im currently rebuilding my split rims and im at the stage of buying new bolts, ive had a shop around and found a set on e bay

but they are only £80 which is a lot cheaper than justmatz are, so i dont know if i would trust the ebay cheaper ones?

can any one shed some light or their opinions please

Cheaper ones mean costs have probably been cut somewhere, an even supposedly high quality items seem to rust worryingly easy I would be carefull.

They're 10.9 grade which means they aren't plastic (8.8). They seem decent enough to me.

I build bomb-proof vehicles every day and we use 10.9 grade bolts.

thats what im thinking, there must be a reason for them to be cheaper. ive not skimped so far imo so why skimp on the cheapest bits.

The reason is they single plated chrome and not triple plated.
One slip of your socket on these while tightening will cause these to rust after a few months.

I can get hold of BBS origional bolts in chrome plus the rear nuts to.But they will be more dearer.

it's the quality of the chrome plating I was talking about not the quality or strength of the bolt itself.

Just buy stainless steel ones! Tunershop do them.

I'm using stainless steel ones on mine, and stainless steel dishes.

Yeh use stainless pal better to be safe then sorry.

I've heard about stainless dishes causing the centre's to crack as there is no give in them like the alloy lips.
Just something to consider before you find out first hand :S

well ive bought brand new lips from justmatz, i think they are alloy. (ive been informed justmatz are good company to buy from) and their chrome bolts are £140 and stainless £195, i supose its only and extra £60 which isnt much so might just get chrom ones from them. i wont be getting the ebay ones

Pay the extra for stainless bolts unless your wheels are going to be pure show wheels and only used on dry days and polished after every use.

It's almost impossible not to chip or stress the chrome on plated bolts when assembling which quickly leads to rust even on well plated bolts when exposed to typical uk weather. Somehing which will never happen with stainless bolts which you can reuse as often as you like which is handy if you actually want to use the wheels which means they'll almost certainly need a yearly strip and polish no matter how well you try to look after them whilst on the car.
