I, for one, think they are Retro classics...

They're not cool, look pretty crap on most e30's imho and don't have anything on bbs's, or other wheels from the likes of 'pina, hartge or schnitzer!

bottletops look cool on a car that has been utterly slammed

I,m voting a resounding no, with a proviso that on a totally OEM standard ,low mileage
early car , i could see the point of keeping them on.

They are the least desirable factory E30 alloy.

Values dictate this.

No one wants to buy them when anyone bothers to attempt to sell them.

The look shit.

Yes only if its on a mint timewarp or very clean car, but if its a tatty old banger then No

My car is worth 10 times the value of my wheels which incidently are the most valuable OEM E30 wheel!

at the end of the day i like the bottletops on my car, better than trims and cheap as chips which leaves me with more money for other things to do on the car

i had a set powercoated once

No, no, no, no. Any car would look better on a different wheel - 'originality' is the only reason to keep them (even if you'd rather the original owner had been able to / chosen to specify something nicer) and that's certainly not 'cool'.

I had a very clean set on my car when I got it, and I thought they looked alright on my very stock-looking chromie. As soon as I got my replacement wheels though, I realised that it was the bottle tops that were really letting the car down. I think E30s really need a decent 16" wheel to look their best.

When it came to selling the bottletops, I put plenty of keywords in my ebay advert and took loads of nice pictures to tempt the bidders (and i must admit, the pictures make them look quite good):











In the end they went for a whopping £46 odd. So it's definitive - they're crap and no-one wants them

They're absolutely awful. We used to put them on any 4-Stud scrap they'd fit on that we took up to the forest to wreck when we were younger. The only redeming feature they have is that they withstand impact pretty well. Which isn't the most useful thing for a road car !
