Was driving along fine today car going well when all of a sudden there was a crazy tapping noise. Put car into neutral and then it died with some smoke out the back.
Ive taken off the rocker cover and everything looks fine but one of the spark plugs has its tip squashed a little!
I hope the engine isnt completely f***ed.
The worst thing is I spent ALL day cleaning and polishing the car and it has never looked as good. Its in show room condition almost which is why Im completely gutted I wont make it to Gaydon.
Looks like tomorrow Im going to be stripping the engine apart again to find out the damage!

The sickener is that I'd got the car looking fantastic and was on a real high. I couldnt wait until tomorrow to show it off.
I was on my way to some local lakes with a mate following in his Impreza to take some nice pics of the cars.
I was leading and the car was running well but it started sounding like it was missing a litte. I though it was just one of the leads or spark plugs coming loose a little.
Even so the Impreza couldnt catch it.
From a high to a bad low in the space of 10 seconds. Im completely gutted now.

Really sorry to hear about this Adam - i read your previous threads about changing the head with nothing but admiration for you taking the job on yourself. I've read your other thread in the tech-help section too - looks horrific, but it's sounding like you may have some come-back on the supplier on the head - i'm really hoping that pays out for you.
