Try Admiral. They've always been the most reasonable in the past.

1. Submit your details to a comparison website.
2.Unbuckle belt and lower trousers
3.I am sure you know what is coming next....

Try Direct Line, they seem to be reasonable for young drivers.
Try thecomparison websites too.
Even a 316 won't be cheap

It's a pain but it is often better to phone each company individually as it often ends up cheaper than the price on comparison sites.

My 17 year old (not seventeen yet) looked at getting a quote for the following last night, just to see how the land lies...... 1999, Peugeot 106 XN model, standard car, said he had 5 months driving experience and was quoted £2995 - 3500!
Put getting a 316 out of the picture for him.
Not surprising so many people decide to drive without insurance!

I was paying 3k for my first year on my 320 cabby
Now i'm 21, the renewal quote is just under 2k now, still
I can get insured on a 325 2 door for about £800 though

I was insured with directline when i was 18 on my 318iS fully comp cheaper than my 1.1 peugeot 106 was TPFT. Im now 21, with 316i and a 525i 24v engine with all mods declared for about a grand TPFT with a modified insurance company.
When i first insured my 106 i found that the RAC was the cheapest, but directline was the cheapest for the 318iS.

Tesco or Direct Line I've always found to be the cheapest. What insurance company do the rest of your family use? Perhaps some kind of 'multi-car' deal is applicable?

It's a trade off for the stiffness you get in your hips in the morning.

KwikFit quoted me 1.5k on my 1.8 as a named driver with my mom, I'm also 20. Just wait it out as a named driver until you apply for classic insurance.
