Cant wait for darkness to fall !!

Fitted some philips x-treme H1 head light bulbs today on my dipped beam

Image

just reading some reviews now, i was the same as this...

With the OE bulbs, I was subconciously checking that my headllamps were switched on when travelling in the dark or on poorly lit roads, owing to the fact that little light was being thrown onto the road. When compared to other vehicles, especially those HID equipped, lamp performance was generally poor, with a dull yellowish light.

The X-Treme Power bulbs provide an intense white light, and project a solid, useable beam to beyond the focal point of the driver, making them excellent for negotiating dark, poorly lit roads.

These bulbs are ideal for those who have considered aftermarket HID kits, yet don't want to take chances with legality and fitment.
Certainly a worthy upgrade and worth every penny!"

cant wait to see what they are like when its dark and the difference :)

They will hardly make any difference, just very expensive bulbs at the end of the day

from what ive read and the bloke who served me em, said he has them in his golf, and that they are excellent, give a much clearer brighter white light, thats longer and wider, whiter, brighter, than standard, and very good on dark roads, £23 is hardly big bucks anyway

no mate they do do blue ones, these are white, turned them on when i fitted to test and they were white

I'll keep an open mind on this one till I see pics. I'm very sceptical though.

I can't see how the bulb is going to affect the width of the beam. Surely that's controlled by the reflector in the lamp.

Looking forward to seeing the outcome. Fair play for trying something new. :D

Anything to do with beam pattern is down to the lamp, the bulbs just create the light to be projected. Ive used 100 watt bulbs before and they make no difference, the bloke behind the counter will tell you anything to get your wallet open :)

Bob, my thoughts exactly

im keeping an open mind too lads, il take some pics, was only worth trying out and found a score at work on monday, so i used that 8) , little bonus really

n the blokes cushty, id already foned up and reserved them anyway and was only picking them up, he even recognised me n said ah they are for the e30-youl be pleased with them i got some in my mk2 golf

as i live by a lot of dark/country kind of roads, and drive a lot at night, ive been thinking the standard dipped beam ones are quite poor, and a lot of the time on the motorway ive even found myself checking they are actualy on

I'll be interested to see the difference as well, as I'm thinking of a set for my e30 to improve the lighting and keep it OEM under the bonnet.

initial summery...a bargain quality upgrade that doesnt mess with standard, for £23 and 5 mins to fit  , il report back after ive been to work and back, with dark country roads, motorway, and inner city driving...

verdict-= chuffed to bits for the ££, quality upgrade, drove to work and back, they light up the imidiate road in front of the car a lot brighter and whiter than the tired looking standard yellow looking ones, more visible when on motorway and light up roads/street lamps, you can actualy feel/see a lot more than you have the lights on when just dipped beam, and like people said the light is white and better, a lot better, happy days and highly recomended £20 upgrade 8)

Thanks for the review. Had a set of Philips Vision Plus (+50) on my E36 and they were a noticable improvement over stock. Will try these as the standard light output on the E30 is pretty terrible.

Out of interest Polsta, do you have projector lenses?

So get these if you have non-projector lights.
