The box to use for sensible money is the R154 out of the MK3 supra 3.0l turbo (pop up headlight style), they are mega tough and usually come up for about £250
The 6sp out of the MK4 supra turbo is very expensive, usually £1500+

the s50 b32 he had was a heroic engine when it was in the car, it must be bonkers with the 2JZ
there is a member on here (G57YLE i think) who has this engine in his e30
good engine, with stock internals they can make over 500bhp, some recon 600bhp.

If its the bloke I'm thinking of, he's actually got a 1JZ :p
2JZ - 3.0 twin turbo engine from the supra/aristo...
1JZ - 2.5 twin turbo from cresta/laurel/soarer...

600 bhp in an e30 shell. bloody hell you could take a Ferarri F430 with those figures. When you think about the BHP per ton your talking better stats then an Enzo. Hell even the F40 was 480 bhp with a twin turbo setup!

I'd love to do this swap 2JZ in a cabby would be mental , would cost quite a bit though, time to save up

Imys - why? You can get plenty of power by turbo'ing the 6 pots on stock internals, and spend a lot less.
If you're aiming for big power, yeah, 1JZ, 2JZ, 1UZ or big yank V8. But you'd not need to worry to 350bhp or so!

I'm looking for 500BHP minimum if i go turbo
I don't think a M20 could handle that, or without spending loads on money on it

500bhp? Nah, not worth it trying on an M20 - its good but nowhere near that good!
Even with a 2JZ you might be looking at changing internals for that power, not 100% sure though.
Had you thought about the volvo B23 (think thats the engine code) those things are mega strong - 400+ bhp on stock internals!

I've read the M30 is good for around 400BHP on stock internals.
Probably cost around 10k for the power i want

There's a guy on here, fowler, got a 325 touring with estimated 500bhp. Think he works for or is something to do with Ant @ A-Tech

Mr Moffatt, The man, the myth, the legend.
That Z3M was the first proper quick road car I ever went in, the tuned BMW engine he had in it to start with was insane.
If I hadn't lost my job I was ready to by the V8 he has just taken out of it to go into my E30... fucking recession.

i'd like to see an m30 be abused and stay reliable with a boosted 400bhp on stock internals........
mine died after 18 months of infrequesnt abuse and 300bhp
felix, 362bhp in an e30 weighing about 1200kg with fuel and driver is enough to batter a ferrari 360 around thruxton

To be honest, as desirable as it is to go hunting stellar power figures in an E30, from my observations over the years, anything more than about 350bhp is an utter waste due to the complete lack of traction.

I have circa 300 bhp from a nasp S50B32 and traction is a problem if it is even remotely damp.. Really dont know how much use the extra torque would be!
Fun though..

I have 300bhp from a high revving N/A lump, and struggle with traction, there is definitely a point when it is just chasing numbers for the sake of it, esp for a road/track car
