E30 Zone

Just a thought as i have been looking at differant kinds of kit cars, and this thought popped into my head,

Would you buy a car or kit car that is trying to be something its not,,

i.e an MR2 made into a ferrari ?
a vw (chassis) made into a Porsche 356 spyder or other
a 325i sport into a fire breathing monster
a 316 with a BEC (Big Engine Conversion)

i personally love all kinds of cars and would have a few more, space permitting, altho, should the line be drawn somewhere,
and what would you look for ?

I hate modern replicas trying to make something cheap look like an expensive supercar - the 355 kits etc,

however, I like the 356 replicas as they usually look very close to the real deal, are mechanically similar, an the real thing is hardly a high performance vehicle so one made on more mundane underpinnings doesn't offend me as much as the newer ones.

If any conversion is done well i think it simply comes down to personal taste.

The only things i'd be looking out for are the potential dangers, like not enough strengthening to chassis if the body has been greatly altered or brakes that haven't been upgraded in line with engine power...

Im not a great fan of the mr2/355 kit cars and the like, a tidy 7 style roadster or ac cobra kit are more my sort of thing, i just wish someone would do a 507 kit!
