Rear bumper allignment

Hello, again I know this should be straight forward but I am refitting my chrome bumper after replacing a damaged quarter. I am having difficulty alligning the side spring clip screws when the bumper is in place with bolts at the back end. If i fasten sides first then the spring clips slide off when rear bolts are tightened. Am I missing something or is there an easier way to do it.
