Not really bmw stuff but anyway....

Last year we (myself and a couple of guys from work) entered scrapheap challenge. It is being shown at the moment, you may have seen some of it in the last few weeks.

It's likely that we'll be on tomorrow's show, so if anyone wants some ammunition tune in we might have made fools of ourselves a little bit...

(I'm Simon)

Channel 4, 5.30pm.

I'll give it a watch, hope you made it entertaining.

Sadly I find the new format to be a massive dissapointment, nowhere near as good as proper Scrapheap.

Sounds good mate i'll be watching, love scrapheap challenge you must of had a right laugh. Is it true you get told where to find some bits in the heap?

Also being in the navy myself as a favour to the motoring club on base i scrapped all the old engines for them and gave them the money for it so that was my payment for having my E30 in there for 2 months and one of the engines was the same engine the Navy team used in the drilling challenge on scrapheap. The turbo diesel engine was fully complete in this welded boxed frame. Not somethng we see everyday.

Did you keep your build as a solvenier?

The format has changed a lot this year, we got to keep the first build but sold it to fund the semi finals. The last build was somewhat destroyed so not much left after the final!

You'll know when we're on we had the green vitara with no front end.

They filmed 2 programs from each challenge, it was all aired in australia earlier in the year, the next blow football is listed as episode 13, there is a rumor that ch4 has cut it down to 10 episodes, but I don't see how they can without messing up the semis and finals as we made it to the final with our builds so I'm sure we'll be on soon.

Best not cut me out put hours and hours into it! :x

nope they weren't, the production team picked the best winners for the semis. The first blow football was a bit of a farce to be honest, no one could moe the ball with their builds so they used smaller balls and gave them fire extinguishers. The proper balls were 4 ft monsters, hopefully you'll see what I mean when ours is aired, we did use the full size ball in ours, needed some serious air flow though...

We got some stick from the other teams for making everything a bit too shiny, but we're engineers by trade so that's just what we do, who uses a tig welder on scrapheap... err, us? but then at least all our build worked (as you'll see in the semis and finals  )
