Microfiche was basically an old method of storing data. On a normal fiche you could store up to 60'ish sheets of a4 paper on a fiche the size of a post card. A special machine called a reader is needed to view the documents. A reader printer can then print out the documents at its original size.
The motor industry sometimes used Jumbo fiche where hundreds of pages could be stored on a single fiche (albeit larger than a post card). Specials equipment is needed to view/print from these.
Many people believe that microfilm is still the best method or storing data over electronic format. Time will tell.
And that concludes are microfilm lesson for today.
