Insurance with 2 yrs no claims @ 19 and M50 conversion

Rite. think ive made my mind up, my step dad wants leather in his 525i and i want an M52 ideally, but i will settle for an m50, so if a 525i touring comes up needing a head gasket or been in an accident with leather then we are going to go halfers :)

But i need to find some one who will insure me, ideally no more than £1500 with engine conversion declared :D

anyone any thoughts????? i will wait till i'am 19 with 2 yrs no claims (6 month time ) before it goes in

or is this a no no

i would buy a 325i but i dont think i will find a better shell and i'am a bit attached with the IS now

I was insured with PD for my 318 M50, they said they would run it as a 325i for whatever reason, so try a quote for a 325i and I dont think you will be far out

Better Mpg, Chain Driven 24v More Power, More Modern Less likely to be thrashed out of a 525i

only down side is its heavier :D

Alex,

It is possible mate, i got my M3 when i was 19 and insurance was by no means impossible!

Dont just go through the comparison sites, try some of the smaller brokers and specialists. Some will come back with sky high quotes but you should get a few decent ones too

Best of luck with it

It was a query, as a clean 316 chromie might be cheaper to buy and insure! Its just finding one!

some insurers will load the car as a percentage power increase over the original car, so a 325i 'base' car is often cheaper as it'll be less of an increase.

insurance companies can be very odd. my bro halved his £3k+ insurance on his seat leon cupra by fitting a strut brace and declaring it :D
many would have kept quiet and arguably been un-insured despite paying a fortune

i've always found talking to adrian flux frankly and asking their advice to be worthwhile, they all seem to know their stuff, especially in the specialist vehicles dept

cool thanks gareth

a strut brace halving insurance  no logic in insurance companys

Seriously for the money you be spending on the extra insurance save it up for a few years and use that to do the conversion.
