ok so is there anyway of replacing the front silencer?StuBeeDoo wrote:I could be wrong, but AFAIK all UK spec. 320i tourings came de-catted as standard. Production ended April '91 and cats weren't necessary until '92.
The front silencer looks like a cat, though.
They're probably making an assumption on BMW's description "cat prepared".calpol wrote:apparently it has according to carfolio.com havnt had a look underneath yet though wanna make it sound a bit better
Are you wanting to make your car more noisey?calpol wrote:ok so is there anyway of replacing the front silencer?
OK, if you look under the bonnet or under the car, can you see a lambda sensor anywhere in the front pipes?calpol wrote:well it says catalytic convertor: Yes
wanting more noise for now will worry about power when i put the 2.5 in itStuBeeDoo wrote:Are you wanting to make your car more noisey?calpol wrote:ok so is there anyway of replacing the front silencer?
BMW silencers are known for being efficient from a flow point of view. If you want to lose the silencer in a search for power, you're wasting your time.
Failing that, go to your local BMW dealer, tell them the last 7 characters of the VIN code (chassis number) and ask them for a "vehicle specification enquiry" print-out. That will tell you exactly how the car came from the factory.StuBeeDoo wrote:OK, if you look under the bonnet or under the car, can you see a lambda sensor anywhere in the front pipes?calpol wrote:well it says catalytic convertor: Yes
No sensor, no catalyst.
200 is the factory option code.200 * Delete Catalysor
Does that mean my 318IS has 3 silencers then?StuBeeDoo wrote:I could be wrong, but AFAIK all UK spec. 320i tourings came de-catted as standard. Production ended April '91 and cats weren't necessary until '92.
