Paint

I did a quick search but couldn't see anything, so apologies if this has been asked before and I missed it.

I've just got a Cirrus blue E30, generally very nice nick but with a couple of small chips and a scratch down one wing. The lacquer has faded on that wing, too, so it'll need the whole wing doing.

What are my options regarding getting some Cirrus Blue paint. Can I still get it from BMW? Is there a place that already has the code/mix and can make me some? Or do I have to take in a piece of bodywork to match it to like I used to when I owned Hillman Imps?! I would have thought being much more recent it should be easier to obtain than paint for a '60's car of a now-defunct make.

I figured it was way easier to ask on here than spend ages trawling through Google.
Thank-you. :-)
Graham.

its not a popular colour, i know cos ive got one too. :D

BMW only do rattle cans and they are expensive. you will need to try your local motor factors or paint places. i got my local lot to make up a few rattles for mine but the match wasnt perfect. wont matter for a track car like mine, i'd imagine you would want a reasonable match.

paint code is 189.

OK, I've got a PartCo. up the road with a fairly decent paint mixer so I'll check with him and see what he can do for me.

I hadn't seen a lot around, but I'm growing to really like it. When I first started looking for a 325i, I had a vision of my ideal car being either black or white, but now I've got the Cirrus blue one I'm starting to like it's subtlety. That and I just love the car!

Thanks again.
G.

I've got one as well and it's a real pain to colour match even with BMW paint cans

Ooooo, that might be very useful. There's a couple of little chips that I want to touch in, but they're way too small to bother with sanding the whole area and spraying it, so that might be just the thing I need for that. Cheers!
