Became the proud owner of a 325 sport last week but something strange has happened !

I have an e36 318 that gets booted everywhere i go but for some reason i drive the sport much slower almost obeying most speed limits.

Thing is its not something i'm doin intensionally it just happens.

My g'f said the same thing to me yesterday that she drives slower as well.


STRANGE !!

Any one else got this problem ?

I remember when I first bought my Sport, I did the same.

Just cos it's so good to cruise with the 6 pot purring!

short ratio box so i cant realy boot it about anyway and its a heavy fikker too

the first day i got my 325 i ragged it

My sport rarely gets taken out, I have another car for everyday use. When I do take it out though it gets driven HARD on every occasion.... and it loves it!

The reason you drive the Sport slowly is because of all the fuel it uses!

I break the speed limit on almost every road I drive on except when circumstances dictate otherwise such as lots of people on the footpaths near the side of the road or if Im in a built up area.
Everywhere else Im flat to the mat.
You can drive fast and yet still be safe as long as you read the road far enough ahead to know when to slow incase something or someone comes out in front of you.

Since getting the sport I have to admit though that I do drive it slower than my last cars. Its just such a nice car to cruise around in.
The car I ragged the most was my CRX vtec but anyone who has had one will know that the engine is so addictive and you will want to be on the vtec everywhere!

I drive my M5 very hard but only on bigger roads.

In smaller residential areas I drive very slow just incase a kid jumps out.

Motorways is always big speeds as are A roads.

I've always been an 'obey the speed limit' boy so I didn't notice any difference at all when I bought a 325i. Also, my old 205 was just as quick

A mate of mine did say that when he went from a 205 1.4 to a 1.9GTi, his driving slowed down so it doesn't just apply to BMWs.

I've slowed down a bit since I bought the bm, I used to rag my fiesta everywhere but I just take my time in the bm but I'm always over the limit apart from 30's and speedcameras

Just normally cruise in the 6 pot Touring. Never really go above 100 as the cops up here ain't got much to do except stop drivers for speeding. Reckon I'm a bit more of an acceleration freak as opposed to top speed nowadays. The sport used to get a damn good hiding all the time, except in the snow ha ha. And she loved it !!

I try to stick to the limits in built up areas but the open roads and motorways are a different matter.

Motorways are usually taken around 90mph, but as I work shifts friday night/saturday morning 4 am finish usually means 140mph +

Country roads are usually taken as fast as possible too, was on the A57 snakes pass a few weeks ago on saturday morning and had to overtake 3 superbikes in convoy as they were too slow (90mph) managed to do the whole journey (35 miles) including 12 miles of 30mph town roads at an average of 68 mph .

I like to live fast could also explain why I average 22mpg

For me, the thrill is accelerating.....hard. Couldn't care less about the final speed so the mandated local limit is fine

ive seen the roads near yours and there absolutly wicked for some major arse out action wish i had roads like that near me

I have the same thing. I drive alot of cars and it seems the more powerful the car i drive the more carfully i drive. My first car was a Vauxhall Corsa which was VERy slow and that used to get thrashed all the time, then i got a 520 and drove slowly, then whe ni got my first M my driving became very sudate... until i discovered how effortlessly it drifts!

I think there is a trend thou. The smaller the car or engine the more you feel you have to proove you can still drive quickly, but if you have a big powerful car that you know full well is quick you have no need ot proove anything and so drive normally. I call it little car syndrome... this is why chavvies drive like c*ck ends cos they feel they have to proove they can go fast... when really, its just a Nova, grow up and get over it!

I know excatly what you mean. I do have my old M20 knocking around in the garage and I swear it whispers 'turbo me' whenever I walk in there.
Or I could always turbo the S50 - now that would be fun

I have to agree. I may of driven my Sport fairly easy, but the 1.4 diesel Metro I was driving got ragged everywhere (and I still couldnt break many speed limits ) and Im not even going to start on about the XR3i .

I have heard it said that just having the knowledge that you have all the power you need at any time you like ,is more of a thrill and more satisfying than blatantly booting it everywhere. Sometimes I cant be arsed to ponce about with Mr baseball saxo, i aint got nothing to prove unlike him. So i think i know how that feels.

But on the other hand, mostly I'm trying to break the sound barrier...
