Just got my self a Privy plate from the family..hand down
Got a Number plate made up and it looks RUBBISH.. 40 notes down the pan of poo
The plate is H4 CHV <chivers surname>
my plate reads H4 (this gap is about 5-6'') CHV
not to sure i want it like that not to mention the men in blue not liking it..reminds me of peeps who spread there numbers out to look like private plates which is soooo wrong IMO
You know the more i look at this number..how i wish it went H8 CHV <hate chaf's>

I find this private plate thing a load of cr*p - sorry.
If you have to explain what the plate means to ANYONE then it is totally pointless.
Unless the plate is very clear in what is says then I wouldn't even pay the transfer fee.
If the plate is of sentimental value - then apologies.
Karl

I disagree with some people about private plates... they can be awesome. I saw one guy who came into work who was a propertly developer who had 731 OT which was altered slightly so it red TO LET perfectly in your rear view mirror... you had to see to understand but still mighty cool. I also saw a VERY fitting one in High Wycolmb (or how ever that place is spelt) on a BRAND SPANKING NEW BMW m5.... with 'M5 NEW' on the plate... you HAVE to admit its worth having a private plate like that if you have the cash to burn (and im guessing you would need alot for that plate)

no - it's pointless
if I know about cars I know it's an M5 and I don't need anumber plate to tell me...if I don't know about cars then I don't care do I?
private plates are for people with personality disorders - there is no valid excuse

I saw i guy the other day driving a Porchse (sp?) 911, a decent one, and his plate read "911 toy"
I thought that was cool, in a playboy kinda way

But if they bring a smile to the faces of those who know about cars like a lot of the plates mentioned, then why not have them?

private plates look pretentious (sp) to some people, they do to me sometimes
A private plate to me has to be specific to the car u drive or to yourself
Seen a ferrari once with "G8NE", i reved up my 1.3 astra at the time to entice him into a duel of perfance cars at the lights

That's a bit of a blinkered view mate although I respect it's you opinion, and to be fair my own opinions on private plates are mixed.
My dad has 1YG on his car, it's the plate from the 1920's my great garndfather had on his first rolls- so it's kinda got sentimental value, and I like it cos it means nothing. I hate "personalised plates" which are more than say 4 characters long, they just look like unfortunate normal plates.

My plate is cool... a present from my girlfriend... GIL35 51
It's not pretentious... well I don't think so. If I could afford it, then G1LES would be the plate to have, but while I haven't won the lottery, this will have to do.
The best bit is... I can put it on ANY age car and not worry about it being legal. I just think it makes the car look more individual.
Giles.

I actually wanted D351GNS or DES19N / DES16N - but the DVLA put one over me on both those plates... money making gits!

But giles u don't own the car anymore?! is it on the mantle piece?!
Widge old plate means nothing and worth a few quid i expect?!
It does if u are 1 or 100 and called Yoga Goo Goo. Or Yoga Goo Goo who lives at no.1 and drives a 1 series bimma innit?
My E30 is proud of it's F plate even if it is on it's 4th plate in it's life

Just been reading your thread I have a private plate as well and it does spell my initials without having to disfigure it.Does anyone know what the fine is for having a illegal plate. And does anyone know anybody who has been done.Love your car have posted a pic of mine. But your side skirts do not look the same.Is the car your everyday ride or is a second car.

sorry still can't see it
my grandfather had JWR 860 on his car, which I was later given - I sold it when I needed some money. My grandfathers memories and wisdom are in my head, not on my car.
Why would you want to 'look different' at the cost of giving the Government some more of your money?
If you are so rich that you don't care, why do you want to rub peoples noses in it (e.g. M5 NEW or 911 TOY)

there is opinions and bitchy comments like the sorta thing i would expect from 8yr old girls..

Simon..pina reps=Chav? ..now that did make me laugh, guess thats about 30-40% of e30 if not CAB owners then?
