think with doors open and doors closed uses a different fuse

check fuses?

This should be in the tech section, but anyway.
You should have a central locking relay mounted behind the driverside front footwell speaker.
Take the speaker out and the realy is mounted inside the footwell, held by 2 screws.
Undo these and take it out.See if you can hear it working when trying to lock the doors.
If no joy, the check the door pins under the rubber cover in the door a pillar, ir the wires are corroded, then u can do a simple mod.
Go in the see this.

If it the relay i have one working here.Let me know. The window probelem could be a number of things.
Check the black and green wire from pin 15 on the E30 C101 plug.

Before you do any of the above check that the small wire on the smallest terminal of the starter motor is making a good connection!

It won't be the cause of the c/l problem but may be for the windows.

Worth a quick check anyway.

right as for the windows there was a blown fuse so replaced that and it worked.... i wound down the window it went down half way and blew so im guessing theres something shorting out, in the door plug maybe?

Matbe, but with electrics, its difficult to narrow it down.
It will be shorting somewhere.
Was the fuse the correct rating???

Ah, I reckon as the window goes down it messes with your central locking wiring.

I had one where when the window went down it would lock all the doors as it puled on central locking wiring.

Take the door panel off and see if things are dangling about.
