will get pics up when i find my phone lead but....

mr car rolled off the drive... across the road... missed my neighbours car by inches, missed a pile of bricks by inches and hit a pile of sand bags......... damage = nothing 8O

i cannot believe it. my dog alerted me to what had happened, looked out of the curtains, my cars sat in my neighbours lawn with him looking inside it!

after moving many bags and bricks she even reversed off under her own steam! without a scratch. my neighbour has an 08 reg octavia which was inches away. thank god nobody was hurt and thank god even more it isnt lowered yet!

worst thing is the bloody things up for sale i dont think it wants to go!

Last summer on the main slip road to Bimmerflex my old White cab decideds to blow a rad pipe and stoops. Problem was the royal flower show was on also. Stuck in the baking hot sun with thousands of people laughing. Shortly after it let me down again and ended up with me buying my Alpina.

Embarrassing E30 moments? Not sure this qualifies, but could've been worse.

We have a small underground carpark at work, which the directors use during the week. At weekends it's fair game for us mere mortals though.
Had parked in Chief Exec's space one saturday and nobbed off into town to do some shopping. Got back just as someone else was leaving, so tried to get out quickly behind them as the pull cord for the leccy door is a bit of a stretch in a lowered E30. Managed to completely misjudge the clutch and left a huge tyre mark out of the space and down most of the length of the carpark, which is there to this day.

Oh, and i managed to quickly release my quick release steering wheel on the way out of the pitlane at Oulton park once. That was fun.

As a solicitor, I also dealt with a woman charged with murdering her husband. It was never a murder, but it was probably cuplable homicide. The jury retired at 10.30 a.m. and by 12ish, the word was that they would give their verdict immediately after lunch - Glasgow juries are renowned for ensuring they get fed and get paid their expenses into the afternoon.

I suspected that she'd either be acquitted or, if convicted of culp hom, would be released to be of good behaviour for a year, such were the tragic and unusual circumstances.

The press were desperate to speak to her and photograph her. She was equally desperate to avoid them. At lunchtime, I got my car - E30 325i at the time - early 90s - and parked it down a side street at the back entrance to the High Court - used only by officials and not open to the public.

The jury duly return at 2.15 prompt and she's convicted of culpable homicide and sentence is deferred for one year.

She gets out and I usher her through the corridors to the back door and out into the lane. The press of course are wise to this and, as they see us heading off, know where we are going. They set off running out the main entrance and have to run through the streets round to the back entrance. We are there, in seconds, it'll take them a minute or two.

"Come on, my car's parked round here. We'll be away before they get round" I say, opening the door, to see my car five feet in the air, being lifted onto a Glasgow City Council flatbed and whisked off to the pound just as the press and photographers arrive to great hilarity and much humiliation in the papers that night and the next morning.

Embarssing moments in an E30...

When I had my first E30 M3, I managed to break the windscreen while attempting to repair the windscreen washer jets.

I had recently had my knee reconstructed and was off work unable to drive but that didn't mean I couldn't fettle (fiddle?). I am only 5'5'' so stretching to reach the washers jets was getting quite tiring seeing as I was balanced on one leg anyway. I had a great idea that I could sit on the windscreen to get much more comfortable access... no prizes in guessing what happened next. Thankfully I didn't fall through it, just put a huge crack from top to bottom.

Driving my first e30, a 318 auto, i was pulling into a service station car park doing no more than 6 or 7 mph when I lost the back end. The car swung round to do a complete 180.

I was like a very slow hooligan and faced a large queue of traffic behond me looking as surprised as I was.

My first 325 had one or two teeth missing from the flywheel. Occaisionally when I tried to start it instead of the starter engaging it would just make a fooking loud 'P-Ting' sound. It didn't happen very often but you could almost guarantee it would when I least wanted it to.

Petrol forecourts were a favourite. I nearly gave an old woman filling up her micra a heart attack!

Trying to get off the ferry in France - p'ting

Giving someone a lift. - p'ting

Coming out of a shop with someone admiring my nice old car, - p'ting

I've done an accidental 180 on a very busy street in Nottingham city centre, very wet day, slow speed, back end came out and just kept coming until I was facing the other way. Thankfully there was nothing immediately behind me.

Another time I was on a delivery and parked on a steep hill just up from a skip. Didn't put the handbrake on and as I was getting out of the car I had to watch as my pride and joy rolled into the skip in slow motion  thankfully the damage was minor.

I did an accidental 270 in a 318is I was test driving. I was coming off a round about and it was raining. The owner of the car was in the passenger seat. To be fair he had told me the rear tyres need to be replaced as they were just on the limit of being legal!!! As we spun I tried to control it but could do nothing - I turned to the owner and said - so sorry mate - he didn't look impressed!!!

Didn't buy that car in the end!

My old 318i has/had spun me round more time than all my other e30's put together. myrical really considering the Alpina got P6000's on the rear and they need replacing.

I think rear topmount bushes are to blame for accidental spinning at low speed. When I first got my 318, I wondered if it would do lift off oversteer on a wet roundabout, answer is, yes - quite dramatically. I attempted to catch it while aiming for the roundabout exit but the car was going towards the island thing with the huge nasty looking curb so I gently applied the brakes to shift weight to the front to get me some more grip up there - this worked too well though catapulted me the other way and up a grassy bank and into a bush. No damage at all and quickly reversed out and went on my way.

When I did my spring and damper upgrade I found my rear top mounts were completely shot and the rear dampers were less than perfect. When I drove it after in the wet it felt far more stable and predictable.
