A W.A.R CHIP & GEN III MAF -----------------

Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 9:20 pm

Dont know if any of you guys know about the W.A.R chip which enables you to alter your ECU settings via a Laptop using USB connection, retaining your 1.3 motronic you could have full function of your car! if you have a MAF or standard AFM you advance the timing, add more fuel... the list goes on..., if any info is needed PM me i can send you a .pdf document on this which explains the full fuctionality of this gadget... overall you simply replace the chip with another chip with added cabling and comes switchable for different driving, i.e. Road use or Sports driving....... Now im waiting for mine.. so i can demonstrate what this can do.... if any guys who normally would go to the Ace-Cafe meet, it would be the perfect event for this and will show this working once i master it also any recent bmw events/shows that are coming - ill be there to demonstrate!!! . I know quiet a few guys here did mention they would like to see it working in the flesh to see its capabilities before orders are taken which is why im ordering mine......

Pictures below of whats it all about to give you some ideas....
prices will be £250.. but will confirm exactly if right or wrong!!

With miller they are doing it for most cars, for the uk side of performance ive been chosen to deal with it.. so a website is under construction for it which is why id thought ill let you guys know if not you may already know of this product, i could say its similar to say standalone, but wether you decide to want to fit a standalone with all wiring, or just fix a chip then plug your laptop in and advance the timing, fuel, Idle.. e.t.c. it does alot more, am waiting for some specs on this and will post, if you have a MAF fitted from miller you can alter that specifically to cater for your engine, so if you have a 2.7/2.8 engine you gonna need a chip to cater its spec, rather spending untolds of money on rollers, dont get me wrong you can use rollers and alter its performance and also using its standard AFM do the same thing..if you end up putting throttle bodies on the engine then bang in the laptop and sweeten the performance there and then in the comfort of your recaros... winkeye the tuning software is part of as you may know... its all easy steps realy, at the end of the day you need to know what your engine needs to give you what you want!! to enjoy it to the max..... i know people would be thinking aahh megasquirt this e.t.c. and that...and does more on this and that... but really when you want to fine tune an engine that you built it will do that and give you what you need rather than stripping looms out .. like i says with this its a chip that plugs in, got a USB lead straight to a laptop and also is an ondash swtichble selector which you can run a few maps at once by switching.. say from economy driving to serious power... and you can modify and save maps and relad into the chip and store them wintin seconds you can swap maps over... :D

Hi cliffybabe, i got pm, i will send you info tonight!!!

Thanks

seen this on millers website. i got quoted 450 delivered with a mass air flow kit. seem real interested but am a little put off by the tuning "I" would be doing. because i aint exactly on the ball with this many degrees advance and firing fuel for this many milli seconds more etc.

on the website it says that miller can help you remap the chip. with their help and the expertise of the zone legends i dont think that you will have a problem :thumb:

Ok, its all Plug & Play comes with instructions of whats what and how to do the adjustments.. what each adjustments are.. if you think you have messed up, you simply reload the standard map and back to normal again within seconds... its for any one, even my 7 year old who is heavy into his cars and is waiting to mess about with it on the car and i would trust cos ill just reset it and back to normal .. believe it or not!! it comes in a flashy looking box from what i understand so its something to consider if your constantly on the fly with tuning, this is the ideal kit for self tune setup....

Can it be adjusted while the car is running or do you tweak the map, then have to write it to the chip ?
Also is it compatable with other MAF meters i.e. not the one supplied by them ?

As far as i know if you were to have an aftermarket MAF which runs with the motronic 1.3 system then i cant see why not, But if you were to have the miller maf it would be more ideal as you would know for definetly that system is compatible aswell as the standard AFM.

I'm interested in this for the price and ease of set up.
Can this run all management as i'm thinking of going down the F.I. route.

Be much easier for us all to deal with a UK based agent for Miller.

Cheers fella i got it. :D I think i may be able to partly answer daimlermans question though. At the moment the WAR chip will only work on pre 1995 engines (i.e. OBDI) so engines after that (OBDII like the m52) wont be compatible with the current WAR chip. Correct me if im wrong but i think im on the right lines here :)

This looks like a good piece of kit.... and when I looked into it a while ago I contacted them to become a distributor myself, but was beaten by a few guys :(

But every chip and management solutions has its upsides and downsides, but I have to admit, this looks to be a great solution. :)

Will this work on all motronics? You have said it will work on motronic 1.3 what about 1.1??

My M50 came out of a '95 E34....what is the difference between OBD1 and 2,please?

iirc OBD2 is a more complex diagnostics system than OBD1. Im sure that somebody like sheps will be able to give a better explanation than me and i dont really know how to tell the difference by looking at it. I think OBD2 has a different diagnostics socket too... if somebody can give a much better explanation than me feel free to make me look like a goon

Huuum,I reckon that mine will be the earlier OBD1,then,same diagnostic socket as my other cars.
Do these 'learn' your driving style and ajust themselves?

Re:

I would guess that there would be different ecu's for obd1 +2. Maybe somebody would able to confirm what version it is by your ecu number?

Hi, from what ive understood, that the WAR will work on all motronics, cant see why it shouldnt work on 1.1, if the motronic 1.1 is chippable then this war chip will sit in its place ready for adjustments, like all chips when you drive it adjusts to your driving but only you can make modifications to your fueling and timing...
