well I'm in 2 minds on what to do.. i just got my old 318is back through a deal and looking over it it looks realy bad but its all cosmetic.. the shell is still solid the running gear is still strong but hell she looks a mess so my first thoughts are tidy it up mot it and sell it but also played with the idea of breaking but as said shes a solid shell it would be a shame..

how she looks the now

and how it looked before i sold it

i reckon i can tidy it up to sell. I've got the chance of a front bumper skin in white and also se side skirts. I've got a wing i can get painted to replace the one that's on it as its bent as the door has caught it. only thing I'm not happy with is the 17" wheels.. I'm wanting BBS for it even if it was 14" ones.. whats other ppls ideas

What a shame! :(

How long was it not your's for?

If the shell is not rotten then I would say that is easily salvageable with scrapyard / 'Zone sourced parts; bumpers, mouldings, mirrors etc. for not a lot of cash...? :)

Looked peachy in the 'before' photo, surely it can be saved?

Who let it get like that!?

i sold it about 3 years ago its been through a few hands since me so not sure what exactly happened.. its needing the side trims for the drivers side as it had been getting a tech2 kit at one point by a previous owner.. passengers mirror was changed for some unknown reason and the front wing had been changed by a pattern part but never finished off or lined up and some one opened the door after being warned not to and bent the wing... i did think about selling my sport and keeping the 318is but i know deep down id never be happy but i saved it from being fragged hence the reason im not wanting to go this route with it.. would love to see it back to its former glory and some one enjoying the car

Hmmm,

Like you say, if it's only cosmetic stuff then that surely must be worth saving... :?

A few hundred quid and a bit of elbow grease? 8)

Plus some money back serving the wheels...?

I think it should be saved, its a 2 door and a good model.
You will get more satisfaction, money all in one lump and less hassle.

Keep ypur eye out for a similar white one being broken. If you can rob all the bits you need in one go, it'll inspire you a lot more to clean that one up, and then do with it what you please. A couple of sunny weekends with some beers will make that one gleaming again.

Far too good to break.

James!!! Hold on before u do anything!

My nephew's dream car is a white 318is. He's not rich as he only recently started working but we may be able to cut a deal here. I can assure you it would be going to a very loving home and between me and him we'd have it lookin top notch again. It would be perfect for him.

Oh yeah and are my mirrors en route? :D

You've probably sorted this by now but just FYI I've got 4 14" BBS with good tyres and Alpine White SE sideskirts in my garage. I'm in West Yorks tho' - where abouts are you mate.

Don't break it, we (as a nation) are running out of 318is'.
Make it your summer project and when its done you can look at it and say "I'm glad I didn't scrap that" or words to that effect. 8)
