You want to be looking towards the specialist classic car type brokers, get six months 'on the road' and six months 'lay up in the garage' type policy.
Snag with classic car policy's is that the car in question must be a 'second' car,and they usually do not earn NCB.

Why not just have a low miles policy then it will still be covered while its parked up over the winter, if you have say a 5000 mile policy its a hell of a lot cheaper than a normal policy.

Best to have it insured all year round as things happen to cars even if they are tucked away in a garage.
If its not you daily then get a classic policy on it with limited mileage and a agreed price.
If you have a good NCB 4+ and are over 25 then More Than will be cheap. Mine was £220 4NCB garaged 318is in not the safeist area.
Check out one of those comparison websites.
gocompare(what i use)
moneysupermarket
comparethemarket
etc

Not the wisest of moves, alot of insurance companys use forums and social nerworking sites to catch people out on things like this I would edit ur post if I were you and nicely ask the chap above to remove the quote from his post
