£3k is a bit of a mine field. Polished turds and sensible cars are both in that price range.

There is a nice red one on here for £3900.

The hulk got impatient looking at wanky e30s for 4k and went for the better value option of an E36 M3.

Only problem with the e36 M3 compared to an E30 is that the market is swamped with them so resale prices are rock bottom, but if you're planning on keeping it for a long time then an M3 is much better value!

just how is an M3 better value?! :( running an e36 M3 properly compared to an e30 325i is 2 different leagues let alone the group 20 insurance

Simon,so true- you can look after an E30 with a halfords socket set and the insurance is genrally less than £200 py on a classic policy.

BUT, he got a mint Avus blue 3.0 with a chip+re map, stainless exhaust, bilstein sports, eibach springs and roll bars, poly bushed, hi spec billet twin pots, drilled b/diamond discs, sachs clutch (all thease parts were 2 mths old) and a 319bhp printout- for £3700!

Hard to match an E30 to that spec/price even if the insurance is £800py!

He does prefer the drive of my E30 and says the M3 is just an engine donor for the futre!

Also, as for value, i think the E36 m3 has reached bottom and is a safe buy regarding de apreciation, but I do think the E30s will gain value by a third in the next year or two, it seems people think they are very cool thease days.
