I fecking hate E30s i hate them, i really hate them, i really really hate them

Trying to renew my insurance i must have contacted every company on the sticky and run around 30 others trying to insure my stock turdring 316, i have clean license over 10yrs ncb live in a reasonable area and cheapest i can get is £1041 with £650 excess with more restriction's than convicted villan.

Im sort of person who follows the law and do the right thing but this is beyond a joke the only options i can see is 1. blow up the e30 or 2. find a better cheaper daily car (isn't too hard  )

Other reasons why i hate it

1. slow
2. rattly and noisey
3. uncomfortable
4. knees hit steering wheel
5. rubbish brakes
6. no power to even pull a wheel spin ok snow doesn't count
7. people scratching it all the time
8. always attracting attention from police
9. cabin too small
10. annoying driving angle, its like riding a horse like lady
11. calling it a 'Touring' its a goddam estate...germans
12. horrible notchy gearbox
13. ashamed to tell anyone i drive a bmw
14. getting in and out of the damn this is embarrasing
15. expensive to run
16. old donkey engines
16. drinks fuel like free beer on a tap
17. impossible to get anything bulky into the boot stupid rear lights
18. all these 'special' premium add ons wind me up
19. the word 'mint' wrongly used in same sentance as E30

Things i do like
1. bs-o-meter
2. ride is nice i suppose and chassis balance is good if it had any power to take advantage of it.

ps theres many more reason's why i hate it but i fear getting banned and made to squeel like piggie for my honesty

I happen to agree with every single one of the those points but then i've never really driven mine properly. The thing is, no one drives one because they think theyre cool (in a gangsters paradise logic), no one drives it because it's fast (with exception). It's just because it kinda works, it doesn't ask any questions and you dont feel particulary bad about shouting at it. Out of the box, on command, driving machine. Does whatever you tell it to

edit - except stop, in your case

Cheapest was from Adrian Flux just goes to show having a clean record 10years ncb (in my 30's) in a half decent post code does not automatically mean anything car is stock and i asked about adding beefed up security and guess what, an extra £185 premium if i fit an RAC Tracker or new CAT1 alarm

Aparently from 1st April new premiums for 09 the 316 turdring will be group 29 few days before my birthday and can't buy it now at the cheaper rate as not your allowed to have more than 1 policy active on the same car

ps it might only be a base model but hell of a lot nicer than "minters" i driven

edit - still hate e30's though

Aparently grouping system has been revised and now in force from April 1st 2009 i think he said nearly 50 odd insurance groups to cater for things like SUV's and stuff which previously just classed as 4x4's now have thier own groups same for city cars, hot hatches, and other weired and wonderful things on 4 wheels.

I really don't get that, 20 with 1years NCB on an iS powaaaahed touring and even I'm paying less :?

If you don't like it, it's senseless to keep it. Different strokes for different folks and all that. I personally love them (as I imagine do many many other people on here, or they wouldn't be here at all). Driving position is perfect, handles nicely, goes alright and is about the only car I can see myself bothering with now and probably for a little while yet.

I'm with eCar, luckily I've not had to use them yet (touch wood). And I found them via a price comparison website, still beating other quotes I got from other insurers direct.

The Mrs and I are insured with performance direct, and we pay £158 a year for the 325i. That's on classic car insurance though, and were both in our 30's.

To be honest, a 316 is likely to be seen as a council chariot, since that's all the greasy idiots can afford... Get a bigger engined version and it's cheap as chips. And it's not so gutless. And it will handle better due to more weight up front. And the gearing is better. Etc etc. ;)

325i and M535i here. A friend of mine with a 1.1 or whatever it is Fiesta pays more than me.
