i would check for rust under the boot seal as quite often if the lip has rusted away water can come through

i would replace the rear light seals with new bmw gaskets they are pretty cheap new from bmw, someone had put silocone in my chromie and it was a night mare to get it all out

also if the lip under the boot seal is ok try a new boot seal, also check that the ariel is sealed properly if it has one fitted

the boot can also be adjusted so that it forms a better seal when closed

:D

could be leaking from anywhere,
easiest way is to get in the boot with a torch and get a mate with a hose pipe covering the back until you see where its coming from,if there is no sign of a leak check the inner arches,as when your driving in the rain the wheels spray water up into the arches and into the boot!

Good luck.

ariel seems a good start, i had the same problem i found that if parked the car the other way round meaning the boot end is at the lowet end of the drive when it rained the rain from the boot channels would clear them selves ,if parked the other way it would leak in and cause lots of condensation ,good luck

Make sure it's a trusted mate winkeye

Another good idea is to pull carpets out and plaster talc everywhere - you will be able to see run marks in the talk and find the source of the leak :)

I thought all saloons did this?
That is why I bought a touring.

I have found it to be the rear light seals in the past.
Just drill a hole in the boot floor.

That doesn't solve the problem though, just lets the water out :?

most ariels on e30s are aftermarket ones these days, so just check its tight and pushed nicely agains the paintwork with no gaps around it :D

it could be original but all my e30s and most others ive seen have had some sort of after market one, wether its electric or non electric

so it goes up when doors are unlocked , never heard of that before
