DODGY DEALER. BEWARE

Hi guys unfortunately I only Joined this site after I bought what I thought to be a solid 2.5 sport.
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/6278/dcp55277gi.jpg
It used to belong to doughboy and was for sale in nov by him for £1250. Then after the arches had been fillered and painted was on pistonheads in dec for £2895. I didnt pay this but not far off as I couldn't get under car. Since then I have had it on a ramp and found the sills to be knackered and a fairly big hole in the inner arch. Now I accept I bought the car sold as seen but they are not a private seller and obviously tart vehicles up regularly. here is a link to their latest sale. Please be very cautious if you are thinking of looking at this car. I reckon from the pics that it has had a front end smash. The colour from front body kit to panels does not look right and there is only one side of lamps with wash wipers.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/888515.htm
I now have a sport that is worth easily a grand less than i paid for it and although I have to accept this, bite the bullet and do the work, cos I aint going to stitch somebody else up with it, at least I can warn you guys so that hopefully no body else ends up wasting money. Also if the cars dont speak for them selves perhaps the fact that he was called Karl Andrew when he sold me mine and is now Alan Smith will convince you. I was told the car was being sold due to changing circumstances so stupidly took this as the reason for the logbook not being changed into his name. Surprise surprise the latest reason for sale is changing circumstances. I aint phoned him up but my money says his name is not not on this latest log book either.

fair shout if you bought it and it had rust problems i say.
i have been known to do a couple of cars up in the past to sell on but i always do it properly and its only ever mechanical problems, which are easily fixed and obvious to check

I am sure the resale of this car was attempted on here also.. There was a thread discussing it at least for sure! Shame you didn't find the forum earlier!!
Good luck with saving it!

yeah there was a thread of warning about it with everyone gettin it confused with another car. Pretty horrifying to buy a car then find it in a warning discussion on a forum youve just joined. doh!

Never mind mate, we have all bought a sh1tter from time to time, the good news is if you can look on the bright side theres lots of info and friendly people on this site willing to help a fellow E30 owner. Looks a tidy car from the top so it must have potential.
Chin up fella.

That red sport doesn't even sit right. The engine bay looks full of overspray dust. The bonnet shut lines are all over the shop. The exhaust is wrong for the car. It would have originally had a tan interior and the existing passenger seat is missing it's trim!!
You can just smell it's a Wrong'un straight away!!!

Is the seller really Alan Smith or is he a foreign looking chap?
Did you get it from Wycombe/Chesham/Amersham area??
Some dodgy feckers in those areas that regulaly post nonsense on here

Deffo something fishy going on with that red one - brand new front number plate and i'm not even convinced the front bumper is genuine tech-II...
Sorry to hear about your experience zimmermatt - look on the bright side, there are plenty of people on here happy to help or point you in the right direction at least to get yours up to standard

sorry you've been caught, and the seller looks more dodgy than most going by the red one, but...
show me a used car 'dealer' that hasnt tarted up a shed to get rid of it for considerably more than they paid for it. they probably had pound signs flashing infront of their eyes as soon as they saw the cheap sport pop up for sale.

is it my imagination or is that a 320i engine in it? inlet manifold/throttle body looks small to me.

boot lid is up at one side and down at the other too.

No, that is a 2.5 inlet manifold. The 320's were a lot more angular.

Unlucky mate, as everyone has said theres a limitless fountain of knowledge to help you put things right.
Restoring your car will help you love it more in the long run, knowing that you built it to what it is today as oppose to buying it ready.

It's a 325 manifold for sure.
But - beige carpets and black seats with trim bits missing? Mmmm!

doughboy came to my old workplace (renault bodyshop, had done Simon13's alpina c2 body resto and my sports repaint) for a quote. It needed a pair of rear quarters, o/s/r inner arches, suttle, sills, rear panel. Basicly a full resto. I think he decided it was to much for him hence the sale on here.
Alot of people jumped on the sale of the car as it looked good in the pics and it was cheap.
Obviously someone was out to make a quick buck.
Sorry to hear about this.

The way i see it...it was your fault for not joining the zone before hand so you can get some info on the car.....also if your going to buy a sport they are known for rust issues........even if you coulndnt get under it could of popped back so if you decided to take the RISK you cant blame someone else for your own actions........even if the seller is saying its rustfree under....im sure you would like to check and not take his word for it...so it was all down to you pal.....

Anyone else feel a popcorn moment coming on ?.
kami325isport, you and Spadge may well have your differences, but over 20 pages of feedback would seem to suggest he is far from a dodgy fecker.
