Stolen Hardtop

Well I woke up this morning to find some f*cker has stolen my hardtop!!!
Although my alarm was sounding they still ripped all my fuses out and cut the lead to the siren..
Stole my stereo too...
So if anyone comes across one please let me know. This one had a small damaged area that had been repaired on the drivers side at the back. I had also drilled two holes in the handles and had put padlocks through them thinking it would help secure it..

Scrotes
I'd be checking eBay and other free ads in the local area and possibly nationwide by now, also local E30's in the area.

I have a clifford on mine and don't need this sort of hassle either.

well Im worried that knowing what insurance companies are like the roofs are so expensive\impossible to get in the UK the price of replacing it could mean them writing the car off!!!
they are complete bast&rds... it must have been stolen to order I guess Ive seen the last of it now.
I would love to replace it even if it means another trip to Germany but I just need to find a better way of securing the bloody thing first. There must be something you could do to the pins that lock it in. Its a shame BMW didnt think of this and used a special type of nut to secure them rather than an 11mm spanner..

these roofs sell for £600 +
i hope they never caused any other damage.
can you remove one from outside the car then?
daft design if you can.

No you need to be inside, they did the drivers door lock to get in. The alarm went off so they popped the bonnet cut the lead to the siren which has an internal battery so that continued to go so they just pulled all my fuses and relays out and scattered them all over the place.
Took my pioneer face off stereo too and generally went through the car.
So I need the lock and door repaired, new stereo then think about trying to replace the roof. Lodged a claim with Admiral today but I can see getting the a new roof is going to be difficult.
The roofs are so easy to fit also making them easy to steal once your in the car.
I had a guy from the alarm comapny out today, (cobra alarms Chingford) great service from them. They came out to me and fixed the alarm so at least thats back on again. Anyway he told me of some film he had fitted to his windows that stopped the glass from caving in stopping anyone from going in through the wndows. So I might go for that with some dead locks on the doors.
All that worries me is that these little sh!ts may just start vandalising it if they cant get in!! so what do you do...

Someone had called the police this morning as they thought the car had been dumped there. But no police turned up!!! I bet if I had heard the alarm and come down with my bat the police would have been there and I would have been banged up!!
It was a standard black hardtop and I wonder if that made it more of a target as it would go with any colour car. I only added a post on Friday about trying to get the bloody thing re-trimmed in blue!!
I might try renting a garage near by as I only use the car at weekends so it is a target I guess.

The roofs are easy to steal, and making them harder to steal would probably only result in vandal damage. Either way, the car will be probably be written off if you claim.
I would think it likely that it was stolen to order, as they say. E30 cabs can be bought quite cheap, and will attract the attention of those who will always be wanting something for nothing in their lives
I can imagine they are reading this very thread, saying " he's got insurance, whats his problem, he can get another one?"
Never ever buy anything "dodgy", your buying someones elses misery, and in the end, what goes round, comes round.
Sadly, yourcar will be safer without one...

It really annoys me that people are such thieves. Hope you get it sorted, I thought the whole point of a hard top was increased security, nowadays with its rarity its makes them more of a risk!
I really hope you get a suitable fix for your car. A garage sounds like the best bet.

Trouble with renting a garage is that it,s very rarely that close to your house, and therfore
likeley to be out of your sight and hearing, Plus, once the theiving feckers are in, they can then close the door and work away in private. Sorry to say it , but if someone is intent on getting something from a car, or even a whole car, they,ll get it,

No mate, the actual ones in the locks, complete left turn and it locks it all up.

Sorry to hear about this mate. I had been toying with the idea or getting a hard top and having read this will not bother. If low life scum bags want something bad enough they will generally go to any lengths to get it unfortunately.
I hope they get caught one day and hung by their testicles.

My blue hardtop was stolen on Christmas Eve 2006 along with my stereo. It was parked outside my flat with the alarm on. It was stolen to order no doubt about it. I also live in North London.
Luckily, I was able to claim on the insurance and got a black replacement one through the BMW Car Club. In fact, I did sell the hardtop on Ebay last month and it's not been paid for yet so may be back up for sale.
