Are they worth the money?
My 318is is getting a hottuning strut brace and 60/60 kit,M3 arm bushes and Z3 rack.
Are they worth the money or will they make night and day difference to the handling of the car?
My car is going to be a daily driver come hooligans motor at weekend, maybe try a bit of drifting when funds allow for an LSD.

They'll help but they aren't cheap. Circa £250 a pair. And they do raise the front slightly to allow all the adjustable mechanism.
If you are interested though
www.C3bmw.co.uk have offset top mount available.
These are a bit cheaper at £90 each! (Think when I got these they were much cheaper though!)
Ignore my pic looking weird. IIRC its about 2 degrees -ve Camber with these and -50mm springs.

I have a set of Uwe's they are now adorning my second car, after less than 3hours use, piece of piss to fit even if you have trouble identifying a spanner. I am seriously technically retarded, task around, an oil change can take me beat part of a day.

Uwe is a user on here. He ran a small batch of adjustable top mounts a while back. HE DOES NOT MAKE THEM ANYMORE. Despite repeated interest. The swine!

All they were is some cleverly machined metal plates anyway and using a standard top mount. allowed for very quick and easy adjustabilty from stock camber to around 3 degrees... Perfect for a daily driver and weekend hooligan

You can make standard top mounts adjustable by filing the holes to make slots in the 2 inner most holes and weld a tap on to where the 3rd(outer) hole is also with a slot in. Done right this then gives you as must adjustment as these fancy million dollar mounts you can buy. I'l post a pic of the ones on my track car when I can be arsed.

if you dont mind spending a bit extra then get over to c3 as they sell the eibach top mounts (i think they still sell them).
they aint cheap (£280ish i think) but they are worth it if you ask me as i've got a set on my tech-2 sport.
have a look on their website it's up to you after all.

Come on then E30 know-it-all, why don't you explain the insignificance of my suggestion properly? You may have to break it down so i understand it due to me being an 'idiot' though...

I had some original BMW Groups A ones on my M3 and they make a big difference.
But what i will say is they take a lot of fiddling around to get them set up correctly, you can go with the, throw them one and as long as both sides look ok then that will do approach but i had my car corner weighted and the tracking, camber done on a digital guages and the difference was amazing.
The only word of caution is if you run too much neg camber at the front it will wear the tires on the indside edges very quick and too much will make the car oversteer
Its a fine ballence between camber, damping and spring rates, castor and so on everything you do has an eqal and oppsite reaction on something else
But are they worth it?
Id say so, with a good suspension kit yourll be very happy with them
Nigal at mosesley motorsport has the group A ones if you want them i think they were about £250 a set

You can buy fixed top mounts for e30s which give roughly 1 and a 1/4 extra degrees neg camber from whatever your car is sat atm (mine is currently at 1.14 degrees neg on oem mounts) from bimmer world

Click on Miscellaneous Performance on the link below for all their stuff.
http://store.bimmerworld.com/shared/Sto ... oducts.asp
I bought a pair for my e28 when the exchange rate was good so they were much cheaper than that.
Adjustable (but not massively or finitely) for a little more
Then these are the most commonly used type of camber adjustment

They do camber and castor adjustment.
I currently have a set of slide type top mounts (without castor adjustment) winging their way to me from one of the guys on bmwowner.com. He has bought an expensive pair from the states and has charged a machine shop to remake them at a better price. We have a few sets to try out to test for issues but once they are green lighted they will be around £100 ish and are almost identical to those you see in the last link (£200-£300 types depending on brand).
If all goes well I cant see why he wouldnt be looking at adding e30 ones to the list. Especially as e30, e28 and e24 all use the same.

Look one post above your first post on this thread. Oh look, its the offset top mounts you think "might" be available

You'll notice I even put a helpful link as to where he could buy them from AND a fricking price!

So why exactly did you POST?

or you can just elongate the strut top holes to allow -2neg

That may be so but perhaps you should lose the attitude...

Sounds interesting! By how much do you elongate the holes? I assume the 2 degree limit is when the top mount meets the edge of the turret and will travel no further inwards?
Cheers, Mark

The other option is the Group N mount which funnily enough is the same part number as the camber correction top mount on the etk, gives half a degree of neg!
