lowering kit

which lowering springs have you guys used? ive got an e30 318 cabby that will have 7x17 alloys. i love the slammed look but its not practicle for me now. 
what drop for front/rear? pics would be great. 
also which shocks? new standard or uprated? i dont want it too twitchy.
