E30 Zone

These things:



Are they any good? I was thinking of fitting them to my 318i as I think they look really good, but I don't want to fit them if they fill up with water, break a lot, don't seal with the body well, etc. and are just going to be a pain.

Was wondering what any of you people with these lights thought of them?

m3? theyre cheap ebay light that sometimes leak due to crap gaskets. i had a set on my touring and had to use the original gasket to seal them as the ones supplied leaked rain into my boot.i think they suit red or white cars but not really any other colour imo.

I think they look crap. The e30 rear light is just too bg too pull it off.

I had a set on my car (half smoked half red) - the left one filled with water and went rotten - within a year i would say!!!

Also, can't be dismantled easily - the bulb holder is attached to the light lens - not removable like on standard lights!!

I won't be bothering with them again - even though i think they looked ok on my car!!

must be different to the ones i bought, mine were the same as the original. about £160 a pair iirc.

I just did a search on eBay for 'e30 rear lights' and it came up with a whole load. Some of the ads mention them being M3 style which is where I got it from. However, doing a Google image search on E30 M3's reveals nothing of the kind!

Hmmm, I think I'll give them a miss. To be honest, I could probably spend the money on something way better for the car anyway, rather than some gimmicky light clusters.

P.S. On the subject of gaskets and leaking water past the rear lights, does anyone know the part number for those gaskets? I had a look on those sites that let you look up part numbers (complete with all the diagrams) but I couldn't actually find the part I wanted.

If you need to replace the standard rear lights, then the only ones to go for are the ones made by MHW, based on the standard BMW lights. They are made in all red, and smoked, and the quality is spot on.

Unfortunately, they are no longer made, but can be bought second hand.

What about new standard lights? Can you buy unused normal lights?
