i'm thinking about investing in some grit blasting kit to aide in the resotration of my car and was wondering if anyone had eny experience with it? questions are as follows

-best blasting medium to remove rust and paint (grit,soda.walnut shells?)

-i can't get the shell outside so it'd be inside, if i cordon off the area with massive tarps will it still get every where or mostly end up on the floor close by for sweeping up

- is it better/less tedius then a wire brush on an angle grinder?

I set up a small blast cabinet, the biggest problem that you are going to have is getting a compressor with a big enough capacity to maintain pressure. You will need a massive tank and this may mean you require a compressor with a higher rated electric supply.

I blast with Aluminum Oxcide, it is far quicker than using hand tools as the grit gets all the hard to reach places, it also goes everywhere and creates a lot of dust. You will also need a filter regulator which removes water and oil from the air supply.

Speak to any suppliers and they will explain the sort capacity required for your scale of operation.

already got the filter regulator and massive compressor so half way there

cabinet would be tricky as its the chassis of the car but sounds promising, cheers i'll give them a ring

I use kiln dried sand from b and q costs about £2.50 a bag, spray it all over the garden, and after a couple of days it washes it self away lol
