Can you anyone help me with information on this car, I have asked about buying it and am waiting a response but as most of these cars are usually well known on here I thought it was worth a punt.

Its diamond Schwartz black with a cloth Alpina sports seats but I notice dog tooth cheque door cards, would this be correct? Apparently it has history and the provenance can be proved. It has been resprayed that info was provided up front  .

If the offer I have made is not too far away from what the owner wants I will go and view it with a body repair guy I know to look at the usual rot spots but any heads up prior to that would be good.

I think this car was on ebay about 6 months ago. I had a picture of it as a screen saver for a little while as I fell in love with it. One of the nicest looking E30's I've seen. Damn you for having enought money to buy it! Good luck though!!

I don't know anything which may help you about the car but here's some more pictures of it I nicked from the ebay ad. :D

I would add IMHO it looks like a standard unmolested example from the pictures, although an inspection would be needed to confirm. I'm fairly sure the seats, wheels & skirts etc are Genuine Alpina but I see what you mean about the door cards. I know that a ruptured door membrane can destroy door cards very easily by allowing moisture to get to them. Possibly happened with this car and they have been replaced? I don't know but I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm whether these are original or not. I don't think that would be enough in itself to put me off buying though!! :D

basically the bodywork has had it, and the mechanicals are strong

It's been "restored" by a guy called Alan Wood

Thanks Si

Is Alan contactable or even on here? I would still be interested in the car as long as the body is salvageable but if the roof is gone (I notice that the sunroof looks a little dropped in the pictures so water may have been getting in?).

Seems a pity (but not uncommon) that its been resprayed without fixing the rot issues.

Shell is f**ked needs a re shell it was one of the worst shells rot wise going and that was years ago. No inner out sills, rear arches floorpan corners etc. The owner before the current was going for the re shell but sold on for personal reasons instead

Alan wood has "restored" a number of cars E21 Alpina to a similar standard but he's a 2002 man really

Thanks again

I have e-mailed the seller asking him to come back to me about the condition of these specific areas, so lets see what the response is. As its so local to me I may go and have a look at it first hand anyway.

Even in vgc the £4000 it started on on Ebay was too high at the moment!

I was told in a recent thread that the seats had been added and they should of had matching doorcards!

I am missing something! Its for sale by someone with 100% feedback and 74 sales and I didn't see anything in the posted link about it being in poor condition.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0331377268

Has anyone viewed it? or are we assuming its crap cos it hasn't sold? Sure its too much money but thats just what its advertised for not what ist going to sell for :x

All the C2's kicking around at the moment are pigs. All have been forsale for a long time like the silver one pictured or are changing hands quickly. Sad to say it but all the best ones are in long term ownership now

Unless you want a restoration then paying good money for one then i'd advise against it. Most have been driven hard their whole life and are tired mechanically and bodywork with rust and crash woes to think about. Alpina parts are £££ if they are missing also

My own 2dr was a better car than these current ones and it's killing me finacially to get it how i'd like it. The tourer i have i just got very lucky with that one to be honest

Cheers Simon, I will be interested to see if I get an answer on the rot questions on the black one and I don't even know if the silver one is still available. Its good to get a heads up.

Basically, being a Alpina enthusiast, I gotta say, that the one which I pointed out about 3 weeks ago, the one with the tech-2 rear bumper, has just been branded a fake by thw owner himself.

To find good C2's as simon "THE ALPINA GURU" has stated, you will have to lay down good cold hard cash in excess of £9,000 to take the keys.

Finding good ones is extremely hard, as they are all in long term ownership.

For example, mine, it's never going to be up for sale ot in the next 10 years anyway. 8O

Heres pictures of mine, this certainly isn't a pig, exchanged hands for more than M3 money, in my opinion was worth it.

Original, and to find something like this and something like Simons one, you will need a lot of patience, but sometimes waiting pays off.

And this is how the bodywork should be, and the colour of the rims too. winkeye

Nope, not an Alpina colour at all, originally Alpine white.

it has been resprayed, but look beyond the colour.

In real life, it looks much better than in the pictures, nice look to it.

Like it though?
