Depends on the E30 to start but Adrian Flux is one of the best for younger drivers because you are too young to get any classic car insurance on it I am affriad.

you generally need to try the brokers and insurers who specialise in "non-standard" risks, i.e young hooligans in RWD cars (which are probably slightly modifed).

So as already suggested, people like Adrian Flux, Greenlight, Herts Insurance Consultants, some of the direct insurers can be OK like Bell Direct and Elephant.

Top tip, make sure you put a parent on as a named driver, brings the premium down quite a bit.

Sell your car and spend the money on fine living, seriously, £3k?

It'll be coz yours is a cab though, mine is double the cost of my 4dr (but not approaching that kind of scary figure, once again:  )

I know it's sky high, it's because it is a cab plus a 2ltr engine and i was only 19.

I still think the bit extra for the E30 is worth it, as you found out yourself recently, Alex. Back when I was using my 320i my insurance was £2200. For an MG Metro it was £1900 or so. £300 is a lot when like Dan you're only paying £150. But to us kids, it's only a little bit more.

I think you're mad! When I think what I could have done with a couple of grand and a shit car when I was 19!!! Fair play, you must really love your e30. Sorry to go on about it, just I spent years in putt putt clios building up no claims, and while that wasn't great, I got to 25 in the end and now my premiums are something like reasonable.

On topic, you simply just have to get quotes from every available source - ALL the comparison sites, ALL the direct insurers. It's time consuming and tedious, but it's the only way of ensuring you get the best price. There are so many variables - age, vehicle, location etc, that one man's meat is very often another man's poison. And, don't be tempted to get a policy in a parent's name with yourself as named driver - you simply get nothing other than a useless piece of paper for your hard-earned, it is the biggest false economy around. Adding a mature named driver is a very good idea, but ensure you get like for like quotes with and without - almost anything can affect a premium in both directions depending on the specific martket an insurer is targeting.
