I read somewhere that auto m20s came with lsd, can any one confirm this,

or is it far fetched stuff??

All of the auto's with the sport box that i've owned, have not.

Think this came as an option you need to pay extra for! U can ask your local BMW dealer for a paper where its stated all the options for your spesific car when it was bought brand new!

None of the sport auto's ive had or have, has a LSD.

different thing though hands.. you could have the sport auto box on a non sport which means no lsd as standard..

My 325i Touring auto has an LSD, but the standard auto box (i.e not the switchable one)

If the cars a genuine sport it will have an LSD as standard regardless of auto or manual.

If the cars a standard M20 it will have an open diff UNLESS the original person ordering the car ticked the LSD box on the options list (or some monkey has retro fitted one).

So as per OP's question, no they didn't and it's "far fetched stuff" that all m20s came with LSD.

There is a auto in a breakers yard, on it's belly and I didn't want to be under it bruising my knuckles to get the diff out and find out its non lsd.

Look at the tag on the diff, it starts with an S, something like S3.91 or S3.73 or S3.64 etc then its an lsd. Rotate one wheel and if the other rotates the same way its an LSD ie both forwards together of both back together.
