hit an oil slick today, just after a little drift on a rounabout, fishtailed about 4 times and eneded up going up large curb square on.
ripped the spoiler clean off, also smashed the sump into about 8 bits, and also ripped the oil feed off.
bent something on the steering and pushed the offside engine mount back a bit.
gutted to be honest, i may look for another engine, or may have to frag
took some pics from the scene.

Try and claim on the council mate. Im about to claim off the council near me for a bent 8j alpina hit a pot hole, they have even put a aerosol ring around it so they know its there.

you cant claim you hit an oil slick when it was obviously your car that left it there

maybe they dont, maybe that aerosol spray was put to warn motorists by another motorist? to have a chance of claiming it needs to be proved that the council knew about it from previous reports and had failed to act.
i dont know exactly how youd prove that but my mate ended up giving up after getting the runaround for months.

Why do you need a new engine? i'm guessing you switched it off pretty quick?

lack of talent yes, but to be fair i've never tried drifting on oil before.
all the same i know its my own fault, what a c0ck.
also, i managed to snap the oil feed pipe, and the engine has done near 200k, so new engine time.
only problem is, my taxi has been off the road for 2 weeks with a blown tiptronic gearbox (warranty) so with an extreme lack of funds looks like i'll be waiting a few weeks.

its a learning curve theo, today i learnt not to drift on oily roads with curbs higher than the sump.
lesson learnt
