depends on what your looking for. if you want showroom condition for scrapyard prices you wont have much luck.

Alex please edit your title and replace the word 'is' with 'are' there's a good chap
As for the lack of good e30's around yes they are drying-up a little but there are sttill some 'un-counciled examples out there you just have to be patient and look harder.

There are not many tidy E30's about now for 1k, I was looking for a cheep 2 door pre face 325 for a long time, to reshell mine, but i didnt have any luck, then all of a sudden i see a Y reg 323i 2 door E30 with only 49k and 2 pre owners and had been garaged for 12 years, on ebay for sale, cheep too, so i bought it to put all my stuff on it off mine, now im being told by d6dph, if i molest it by putting my stuff on it, he will post poo through my letterbox lol, but they are out there, you just have to look harder lol.

The lower spec cars ie 318i/316i etc seem to be ones that are in good nick and unmolested for around this sort of price.

i might be getting one for nothing in a few years time
my dad gave his 323i V reg to his Father in law with 150k in 2002 he took it to 240k and died and gave it too his wife, my dads mother in law and my dad was saying when she gets rid of it my dad will get first refusal since he pretty much gave them it, and he will give it to me, its very rough like 260k on it now, with rusty arches/bonnet and more dents than an italian alfa romeo and full service history
but its topaz blue with yellow leather auto box and wood trim mmmm
and them alpina type alloys like the 7s had
