E30 Zone

Got a 94 316i Touring that has had a grumbling diff ever since I bought it. Have tried to ignore it but has got considerably worse over the last week or so. Being totally non mechanically minded I presume that this is something that needs to be replaced rather than repaired?

If that is the case - what diff is that I need to replace it and how easy are they to get (presume I will be looking at 2nd hand from ebay, here or scrappies)?

I reckon it would be a 4.1:1 or a 4.27:1 ratio you'd be looking for fella
