Feeling tempted...

Choice - spend probably a similar amount getting my E30 320i's chassis rebuilt, converting to M3 setup, and putting in an M52, or defecting away from E30s and getting this beauty... always wanted one
Thoughts? Deffo a better investment. That a reasonable price if it's pretty much mint?

The M5 looks fantastic. Engine bay's immaculate and I love those seats! Mind you, if I was going to spend £12k+ on an old BMW then I might be tempted to throw 4 Grand at this:

Would you say that to an M3 of the same price?

And by old I meant classic!

Overpriced in my opinion , Probably about 10k worth
Im running a m535i at the moment and loving it , Even thought about a m5 myself .
Thought about bringing one back from germany when i was over there and converting it to rhd , It worked out about 4.5k to buy one that had 240000km
Make sure the chains have been done as they are double dear

Buy the M5 mate, if it's rot free.
Reckon my old turd will possibly be the last e30 for a very long time. If and when I do replace it, I want an e34 m5.
I love e30's but have driven them for nearly 6 years. Company Jelly Moulds aside, I'd like to drive something different. I loved my old e34, would love to own the flagship version.
Tried to kid myself it's a silly idea, but when ever I see a nice one, I fall for them again.

Absolutely savage car. It looks mint (pity about the gearknob!). The car can only go up in value if the mileage is kept low and it remains garaged. A minter like this does not appear very often and if it is what it pertains to be then it has to be worth close to the asking price. I'm certain you would get your money back in a few years if you minded it properly.

Wow! You knew I'd fall for that if you look at my sig! Is that a proper CSL then? Only problem is I'd have to unmodify it for road use, and it's probably been butchered. I'm always torn between the CSL batmobile, E28 M5, and E24 M635csi. And of course E30s.

Actually I just found this one. New plan - save up £20k.

Yeah, you're probably right, she looks a bit neglected. Probably not a real one although what a shame if it is.
I like the new plan though! Save up for the CSL... It's absolutely gorgeous.
Quite a collection of cars in the pictures; BMW 3.0 CSL, E30 M3, Original Mini Cooper, BMW Z4M, and X3.

Buy the M5 and keep it for best. Then get an E30 daily driver

Exactly what I was going to say!
Keep the E30 near enough as it is, & keep the M5 in the garage! That way you can spend your Sundays driving it rather than throwing your time & money away modding an E30. You
know it makes sense.

That M5 is a nasty spec and a south african car, all things that don't do its value any favours, 10 bags is more than plenty .

Surely a SA rustless, grottless M5 is worth paying over the odds for if thats what your looking for an E28 M5?

Old South African BMW's are far from rust free. I've seen and owned a few that were absolutely shagged with rust.

Actually - and call me fickle if you want cos I am - those extra links with the BMW 3.0 CSL have given me a bit more of a plan. Focus on my E30 for now, and once I have more money in the future, look into getting a 3.0 CSL. They're just so beautiful, and I'm guessing seeing as they did so well in the racing championships of the 70s, they must be pretty nice to drive in terms of handling etc...

A couple of years ago I saw a 3.0 CSi with front damage in the salvage yard for £3K. Should of bought it.

Fair enough Andyboy, I think if the car truely is clean and strong underneath I would pay a premium on that basis alone whatever country it came from or spec if its a model I really wanted, everything else is interchangable really.

Number plate and strange colour are two big clues !
