i posted this in the chat section but it could be a help to zoners it is the link to the insurers database used by the police as well
if you are not on it you stand a big chance in getting stopped by the police. if you are not on it then its time to chase up your insurers as to why not
remember it is for you to check your car so mind you dont accidently put another cars registration in because it will even tell you the type of car it should be
mods maybe worth a sticky could save someone getting there car seized

it takes a couple of days to update though if youve recently started or changed your policy.

Stopped by who? There is no such thing as traffic cops anymore - we have speed camera's instead to keep our roads safe.
I guess you do get the odd roadside taxation van. Although that doesn't stop the dumbf*ck round the corner from me doing 100mph in his skyline in a 30 zone past the local shops at rush hour. And dont get me started on scum like him being able to afford to fuel such a beast when he lives in a council house!
But yeah that site can be useful and is worth a bookmark.

Not really a true statement is it, plenty of traffic cops still in action.

I'm not on the database!

I can't believe they can take the car and destroy it. Harsh. For doing that search, I'm probably gonna wake up at 3am tomorrow morning with the rozzers shining powerful torches in my eyes, dragging me to a cold cell, and telling me that my car, and a substantial part of my family, has been eaten by their car-crushing machine, that I owe them £2million in fines, and that my wedding vegetables will have to be repossesed.

mines not on there but wifeys is.... but even if the police stop you after checking if insurance is held or not, they cant take they car unless they can actually prove that it has no insurance!! thats why there is such a thing as a producer! yes its upto the owner to ask the insurance company to make sure its on there, but if it was illegal or against the law for it not to be, it would partly be down to the insurance company for not putting the car details on there !.. dont worry guys, if your legit on the road but the car isnt on the insurance database, they will not just take the car from you.. it has to be proved that there is no insurance!!

Yeah I guess that was a bit harsh.
Did anyone see that program last night where they were using the license plate recognition gear in the motorway patrol cars (dont normally watch this kind of thing, but as it was filmed local...)? Quite interesting and worthwhile. I can see how having foreign drivers without insurance etc could be a big problem these days.

How accurate is this?
I've just spent a few minutes looking through my old beemas (and an old vectra

) and most of them aren't on there - fair enough, a lot of them were rust buckets but not all
My current one is okay, and the wifes scenic

Adi, Tan's not on the Zone, I am... And the turd is legal...
My insurance actually runs out on 2nd Oct, I'm in the middle of renewing it.
Renewal quote from RAC - current insurers - came in at £403 for a 318 auto ffs...! AA wants £219 for the equivalent. If I was stupid enough to use MoreThan insurance, it's £160, but wouldn't put money on getting documents or them paying up if anything happens...
