i couldnt say they will do a very good job if grit gets under them its going to damage the paint. unless it comes with something to stop that happening. they come from the vdub scene dont they off bugs and campers

Very much a yank thing but why not if your paint work is nice why not keep it that way.
Also with the increasingly poor state of the roads (ceratinly round here) probably a good investment.

ive noticed they are on alot of vw transporter vans around by me and audi's. what is the main purpose of them to stop stone chips on the bonnet or something?

they look shit, and their worth is debatable.

only really any use when driving a museum piecefrom exhibition to exhibition on he road.

used longterm they tend to do more harm than good,

I've had a full bra for mine since '93. I bought when out in Canada for about £50. I had to adapt the bottom straps to fit as the lip spoiler was different to mine.

I use it for all shows and not had any bother with it. I do tend to put masking tape along the back edge of it and over the wings to stop it rubbing the paint and if it gets wet it has to be dried before being refitted.

It does stop the files and chips - the flies are mashed before hitting the grille and are easier to clean off. :teehee:

I wouldn't run one long term on a car in the UK because of the weather and over curious bystanders but for what I need it for it's fine. :D

Mine was made by Wolf from California.

Personally think they are hideous things, they look gash. and the slightest bit of grit etc that gets under them then scratches the shit out of the paintwork and puts a scratch down the bonnet when you drag it off.
Utterly pointless basically. and rather homosexual may i add

Falls into the same category as cars you see in the scrapyard with covers still on factory fresh seats that no one has ever sat in!

Well it is a show car and it saves the chips.
If you don't like it then don't get one and for every day use cars I don't see the point either but for me it has its use on that car. I like driving it an I have nowhere for a trailer anyway.

Certainly it does get a few looks when driving down the road with it on.

As for the car - yes it was 25years old last December and was at Gaydon this year though if you look at the Car Club magazine you wouldn't know.
My £70 special got its photo taken but the 3 oldest E30s there - not one picture :x

You might as well paint the entire front with anti-grit underseal - that looks bloody awful!
Those 3-inch bonnet bras are about as protective as wearing a condom whilst getting a blood transfusion in an African hospital.
