Alpine white 1 went up to around 1987. Alpine white 11 is a slightly brighter white. Very similar looking but put an Alpine 1 white door on an Alpine white 11 car and it stands out like a sore thumb - about 2 shades out.

Yup.
You could always paint it Parisian moonlight white....or Apple white.

OPen the bonnet and look on the inlet side suspension turret, there should be a sticker there telling you the colour code and name but it sounds the same as mine, Alpine white 2.

isnt there 3 shades of alpine white?
either way dont buy mixed-up spray paint from halfords as theyve managed to get me the wrong shade twice out of three attempts

Halfords Alpine white doesn't state which it is, and the can i got as definitely AW1, or more accurately Alpine Beige.

the off the shelf halfords white is alpine 1 and has a slight yellowy tint compared to 2. the others have to be mixed up in store.

The stuff I had mixed in halfords was pretty good tbh, but it wasn't off the shelf. Maybe I was just lucky. Or I'm colourblind.

your right enough. i ended up buying a box of 150ml cans from the main dealer and it was between £5-£6 each and colour match was perfect, the quality of the spray nozzle was really good , giving a smooth even splatter free coating.
i did a front wing and a repair at the rear end and i ended up with a finish equal to the original panels with the repair blending in with the old paint perfectly as well.

its all done on weights of the paint on the mixing. When i worked there and mixed up the paint i dont think any of the paint i mixed up was incorrect (unless they gave me the wrong paint code or car make ) it all looked perfect! You may notice a slight difference though against paintwork that has been faded though obviously! And yes alpine white 2 has to be mixed up its not off the shelf

Hi. Here's all the colours and dates for E30's as from www.bmwinfo.com. Im guessing by the dates yours is the later Alpine, the 218 code. The colours for Cab's and Tourings are on the same site if anyone needs them. Hope this helps.
