E30 Zone

Hi,

Due to a change in circumstances (all my parking area being taken away) I've got to scrap my rusty 325 that I have been using as a donor. I've never scrapped a car before and am wondering what the procedure is and how much (if anything) I'll get for it.

I've found a few websites that say they'll come and collect my car, some of them say they'll pay me for it, some don't, the one's that don't pay say to be very wary of the one's that do pay as they may not scrap it properly. Is this true or are they just saying this because they don't give you anything for your car?

And does anyone know of a decent scrappy around Croydon that will come and collect?

Just phone a company on the web or your local rag. Most of them are paying £80 at the moment.

Just because they pay doesn't mean they are dodgy just make sure you get a receipt of collection if you don't have the V5 or if you have the V5 don't release the car until they have completed the yellow part then you send the yellow part to the dvla.

Otherwise just send the dvla a letter stating car reg ** *** has been scrapped by **** on **/**/**** and wait for a reply.

I have scrapped numerous cars myself on the drive (much to the amusement of my neighbours! ) and have informed the DVLA the vehicle is scrapped myself.

You could call BBB on 07858 151197 they usually buy up e30's to break.

I know they've collected e30's from way down into kent so your not too far away.

If you need any bits for an e30 ask them, they have about everything you could think off on a shelf in their unit, a proper e30 treasure chest!

BBB ( Andrew & Richard ) are top blokes ( brothers too ). They're unit is stuffed with e30's and parts and they are normal people too, if something they sell fooks up they'll sort it

With BBB up here ( Suffolk ) and Ant down there ( Kent ) and Fritzes over that way ( Devon ) there is a e30 specalist somewhere near everyone! LOL

Most Scrap yards will come and collect, remember the price of scrap metal is at an all time high. I just got 150 sheets for a old s40. rang him @ 11 this morning cars now gone and i got sum drinkin money

actually steal has dropped down to £100 a ton due to china not having lots of steel due to factory closures because of the olympics.

You will get more in a month or so.

ive taken a few in , even without the v5, they issue a certificate of distruction and send you on your way with £150+ in your pocket.

i went last week and price was £150 per tonne.

thats about the same as 2 months ago, i got £165 for an 1150kg car.

I took a pug 405 diesel estate in last week which weighed in at 1120kg and only got £113.20, I was a bit gutted to be honest but thats how it goes, at least it's something towards the rebuild....

Collected you're looking at between £50 and £80 quid [closer to 50 with the current scrap price and depending if the car's complete], and the firm's that say they can't pay are trying it on slightly [like national car disposals, and a few other's], although there are cowboys [pikey's etc] that will offer more but get you fines through the post so the highest ammount ain't always the best deal. I deal with most of the online car disposal sites through my business, and cars4scrap is about the best, they have proffesional agents nationwide and make realistic offer's. Be careful if you're tempted to take it to the scrappy yourself, because most police forces are watching the yard's and clamping down on vehicles being illegally towed, so taking the collected price is the best hassle free way, just make sure the v5c trade supplement is filled in [and preferablly given a receipt] and you're covered.
