think you'd be lookin at mid-high 15's down the 1/4 mate and I reckon you would see your mate's golf off, he may have more at the very top/ after 120
Have only had my car since easter so not had too many tangles with other cars yet. Managed to hang onto the back end of an early UK spec Impreza between 30 and 80 mph once but it was a bird driving it. Then managed to be outrun by a civic CRX Del sol, it did look and sound modified, but not sure how rude the state of tune was. Am keen to get mine on the 1/4 mile and it's convenient for me as i live in York, but I am worried about shaggin it to death when doing 1/4 mile passes
I don't think my car feels that quick to be honest

are you still 'dining out' on that Impreza story E30BeemerLad?
and don't write-off Laydeeez in Imprezas; my Missus takes on 911s - that's my girl!

Lol Orangecurry - i was almost cringing as I typed it in, thinking people will be rolling their eyes thinking "ffs shut up about that Impreza"
I suppose I bang on about it as it was my first wee scuffle in the E30 and I was pretty shocked. But I would doubt the abilities of my car to humble a well hustled Impreza.

Just wondering would a 325 have a Ford Focus ST170?

Evo magazine says 8.0 secs 0-60 and 132 mph for the focus, so nothing really in it. If your E30 is tired, then the focus could possibly have you. Focus would leave you on the twisty bits IMO

yes it would cos a 318is can say on an st170s ass.... a 325 would kick ass especially when up to speed.... its not all figures..... remember 325 has better torque curve than a 4 pot

I agree.
I sat with a Golf Vr6 (slightly less power I know) in my old CRX. We had an interesting chat after.
Karans car beats the Civic, so I reckon it'd be close with a Corrado Vr6, but I think it'd have the edge.
Lets go to the Pod and find out!

must take u for a blast on saturday Nick...remind me.... the GUG (Madge) is an old girl but she goes ok for an old beemer......
ive got rear shock mounts and refitting of rear arb to do on saturday morning before lakeside... rear shock mounts are so shagged that when i push the rear of the car down the shock pushrod just pokes up....OOPS LOL must get myself an e30 with the sole purpose of hero chariot so i dont keep on fcuking the GUG... cant afford a bloody 2nd car though...so the GUG would have to go,.......anyone interested?

Karan wrote:

similar - rado is 2.9 and golf is 2.8
approx 16bhp (190) more and a bit more torque too.
my purple one made 200bhp and 200lb ft with filter and zorst, blue one is quicker for some reason with same mods
must take u for a blast on saturday Nick...remind me.... the GUG (Madge) is an old girl but she goes ok for an old beemer......
cant wait m8

the 'figures' say 1220kg for the Golf, so 145 BHP/ton, the Corrado is 1237kg, so 156 BHP/ton
but the Tommi Mak EVO is 204 BHP/ton
It just proves figures mean sweet FA
the EVO is a mad 4 pot MUCH faster 0-60, but the VR6 has an adequate number of cylinders and so comes to play in a different way.
Vive la differance

I just went straight from my Mk4 Golf GTI Turbo, to my E30 325, and the E30 would easily beat the boring Golf...,, and I think my E30 is slightly underpowered... My Golf was standard, but was a good healthy one 150bhp.. while on the subject I must say my old MK4 Golf Gti was by far the worst of my better cars I've ever owned... It was soooo boring nothing ever went wrong with it.... and it seemed so slow, definatly a car I will not buy again!!!

Thing is, you can beat lots of faster cars, sometimes they just can't drive although they look like they are trying.
On track is a different matter, you can tell the good drivers and then you find out what cars are really quick.
I had a brilliant 5 lap race against a mildly tuned RS Turbo Escort at my last track day!

cheers guys bkeep ur stories comin. i aint had much chance o playin wid my e30 yet as shes off road mot less n sornd till i get it sorted but on what little use ive had ive been very impressed with how torquey it is. im a car salesman 4 a living which means i drive lots o motor and i gotta say the 325 is up there with the best iv driven. speed wise i wud like to think that my babe is quicker than a rx-8 (190 5 spd 1) on a road because r x has to b abused 2 go fast. bms power is just soo easy 2 use.
heres annother 1 4 u. do u rekon my 325 wud av my ald fellas mg zs 180. mg quote 7.5 seconds ish to 60 but im more interested in quater mile time. any u guys raced 1. wud luv to piss on his 17 grand fire. especially as i sold it 2 him. Ha ha.
As i sed keep u storys cumin. Cheers dikky5

I would of said the same until I kept with a Corrado VR6 in my Sport.
He passed me on a long straight doing about 70mph, so I followed on until about 110 and then we had to stop for some traffic lights at the end of the straight. After the lights theres some nice twisty bits which we nailed through and then on to another straight.
He didnt exactly pull away on the straights, although I wouldnt of been able to over take him.
I was surprised and well pleased how good the sport did against the rado.

Karan is running a 210bhp+ 2.7 Alpina type lump. It is quick!
Island = Roundabout !!!! What is it with you lot up there?!

210 BHP at the flywheel?
that's attractive
about the same BHP as an M3 but more talk sorry torque cos it's a six pot?
I would have thought it was evenly matched to a standard classic Impreza then, possibly slightly heavier?
as has been pointed out, drivers make most of the difference
