Its a Honda S2000 engine. Its 250bhp revs to 9k. Belongs to a guy called Ray that I met through ebay, got chatting you know how it is. Told me all about this project he was working on, well he gave me a ring the other night saying he was popping down my way so had to check it out. It all fits in fairly well bit of bashing about on the tunnel. Enjoy

Sweet, at least it has the right number of cylinders anyway
An 2L M42 in ITBs would be though

Liking that
so thats mated to an E30 box? or would the 'bashing the tunnel' suggest he's opted for the S2000 6speed

Liking that very much!
I think that the S2000 engine spins 'the other way'..?
If this is true, did the guy fit the S2000 box, prop and diff?
Would love to see some more info on this one..

Its using the 6 speed gearbox, not too sure how its mated it up to the prop (i assumed like any other conversion) E30 diff. Its running the electric power steering off the Honda. I will get more info the next time I see him and I will try and get loads more pictures. Normally I hate almost everything Jap, but you cant help admiring the engines and the amount of power they can produce. N/A 250bhp is a nice figure for an E30 and with the potential for more. Its very appealing

Power is good, but how does the torque feel? I reckon it'll be a great trackday screamer.

I bet that is brilliant fun to drive. Imagine seeing an e30 spin round to 9k every shift. Sweet!
God damn, i need to get 240bhp out of my mi16. Serious money required.

realistically how hard is it to fit and buy an S2000 engine???
surely theyre pretty expensive to get hold of with the 6 speed box and everything you need?
there has to be a catch because that thing is awesome! such an amazing sleeper

The s2000 engine is popular with mk2 escorts (fitting kits of the shelf) and kit cars, I have shifted a couple complete with box & ecu 2.5k

200sx engine for shizzle. 280bhp+ for about £500 including an engine. Pretty damn reliable, no oil leaks yardy yardy yar.
And most importantly '4 pot balance'

Indeed! An SR20DET is really tempting me! Would be a serious track weapon with 270ish bhp i rekon, all alloy engine so it might even worry a 318is.

Hello Jamie
Cheers for putting the photos up, when I work out how to post photos I will put some more up. The car runs standard S2000 engine & box (engine spins the normal way, its 247 bhp 185 ft lbs torque) / half honda half bmw prop/ e30 diff /z3 rack with a saxo elec power steering pump/ the rest of the car is as bmw intended ish.
You do have to re make the top of the tunnel as the box is taller, also get a exhaust manifold made.
The rest isnt bad.
Fuzzy I might have pmed you about a cossy lump as that was one of my other choices.
Regards
Ray

An iS is probably going to be slightly quicker in the twisties still. Sorry.
Seriously, someone needs to do this. Theo, your m30 is bust again, time to start on some ricer wrongness. If you are looking for inspiration there is a fella in the US on e30tech that chucked one in a soft top

Ray - very nice conversion. Would be great to see this at Ultimate BMW this year
I've thought about this many times myself but it's a bit pricey for my pocket.
It's interesting to read the you've mated up the Saxo pump to the z3 rack. I've just bought an e36 rack and Saxo pump for my iS - is there anything useful you can tell me about this conversion? Wiring, pipe sizes etc.
