Always a fun topic that gets everyone going - & this will just make it worse. There is a new application for the iphone/ipod touch that apparantly measures:
0-60 MPH
Other Speed Tests (0-10 MPH through 0-100 MPH in 10MPH increments)
Quarter Mile Elapsed Time
Quarter Mile Trap Speed
Elapsed Time and Trap Speed for standard intervals (60', 330', 1/8 Mi, 1000')
Lateral G's (current and peak)
Braking G's (current and peak)
Wheel Horsepower
Estimated Engine Horsepower
see more (& technology they use)here:
http://dynolicious.com/
Anyone tried it? - (its £7.49 from itunes - no I dont have shares in the company!) - I have, just now, I was writting this & couldnt resist trying it out.
Downloaded it & got in the daily drive:
In an Xreg 330ci (it was wet & had trouble getting traction with & without the traction control)
2 best runs: 8.06 & 7.41 (o.94 G's max acceleration)
Well looks reasonably accurate for car & conditions but who knows!
However, wether its accurate or not it could be a fun competition for E30 zoners with an iphone/ipod touch
