E30 Zone

im looking at a bronze 318 today and im wondering would the colour affect the price if i was to sell it on?

Can't say, personally as far as I'm concerned they are all 20 year old cars, colour makes no difference to the value to me. Though I personally don't like red, silver, bronze and a whole host of other car colours so whould allways choose steer clear of them if the price was £1 or £10,000 and not just on e30s either.

i recon bronze, beige and faded reds could be harder to sell on

Pic in my avatar is my current E30 - I'm sure I would have paid a little more for it if it was a more desirable colour but it has grown on me since I bought it.

In my opinion it all comes down to the condition of the e30 or paint condition...I remember when I got my e30 and was wanting to respray it black coz I thought white was boring....After having the car restored I realised im glad I left it in white and im positive it gets as much attention or value if it had been another colour

I can't stand white motors, and won't touch another red motor as long as I live. I don't want to stereotype red cars, but no matter what make or model red paint indicates massive underneath bodgework, including my wonderful experiences of:
A red sierra whose gearbox seized, broke from its mountings and rammed the gearstick clockwise through the floor;
A red citroen with cardboard inner wings painted with hammerite;
A red renault with bubblegum around the fuel tank plugging a leak;
A red cut-and-shut Jaguar...

White just looks manky if it's not kept in a state of pristine polish and sparkle. All other colours are acceptable, even brown.

nothing to do with the fact that u didnt look at the car properly when you brought it??? i dont think because its red that there is going to be something wrong with it!

To be fair, this is when I was banger racing and I took whatever shoite came my way for free. When the price is zero, you don't exactly look the gift horse in the mouth, and I'm not the superstitious type, but the frequency with which the red motors went pear-shaped in comparison to the others was enough to make me wary...

like I said "I dont want to stereotype red cars." That doesnt mean I think ALL red cars are filled with filler; it means that a red car is MORE LIKELY to have a gearbox filled with sawdust or whatever.

I don't want to upset red E30 owners - I'm sure you don't stuff the wings full of newspaper and chickenwire, because you're passionate about your particular motor, but it just seems to me that out of all the frightful basket-cases and possible life-takers I've had, it's the red ones that have stuck in my mind. The moral being, check the red ones over more than the others.

personaly i love silver cars!! especially e30's!!

its all down to personal preference.

I have always found green cars for example to be absolutly awful cars to sell on. In the end you sometimes have to end up giving them away just to get them sold!

The best selling colours are always going to be your blacks and silvers, just look at how popular those colours are today for instance.

LoL to some of the comments above I know one thing for sure the colour of your car really aint gonna affect the mechnics of it...but each to their own, personally feel if you have a decent motor if you keep it looking good no matter what colour even a silly flip paint job if flawless will look good

According to police statistics red cars attract more vandalism and thefts than any other colour,make of it what you will.

When cars are still fetching good money then colour makes a huge difference but depending on trends and fashion. Back in the 70's no one would touch a green car. You would have been sectioned if you ordered your new austin maxi in green! Put it in hearing aid biege and you were the dogs! Fast forward to 80's and whites and reds were "in", greens and greys were not preferred. Get to the 90's and all of a sudden Green makes a huge comback. The number of Rover 200's, BMW e36's and 39's etc. that were ordered in green was unbelievable. Yet you try and sell a white e39!!!!

HOWEVER, once a car gets to collectable status (and lets face it the e30 must be collectable right? or we wouldn't be on here), I'd say you'd be insane to walk away from either a MINT bronzit or white car over a dog rough Lachs or Sterling car. IMO, colour makes little difference if the car is a goodun at these ages.

Both my E30's have been white... and i remember saying to myself back in my 'youf' i'd never own a white car. I think i need help

I would say that as long as the E30 keeps its original colour, it doesnt matter if its white, black, beige, green or silver for me tbh.... Its an old car now so colour doesnt matter so much!

No preference here either as I think an E30 looks fine in any colour. I do like the old colours though, Gold, Bronzit and Henna
