Howdy folks! I was trolling through the local spares yard and found an E reg e30 320is. That in itself isn't strange however, this is a left hooker with dog leg 5speed, lsd, factory recarros, and some very interesting bbs wheels. The yard boss tells me it is an italian M3. This means it is a 2.0 version of the M3 engine in a 320 is. I have run the reg and vin by my local BMW dealer and can verify that this is a real car with a real M3 engine in it from factory! I am about to bite the guys hands off but thought I'd ask if anybody here ever heard of one. I'm going to have a second look on tuesday any info before then would be greatly appreciated!

Very rare and very nice cars.
What sort of money does the guy want for it?

Buy it. Now! Seriously rare as rocking horse shit and well desirable over here!
Not to be confused with the 320iSE which is just the basic 320 with some extra bits on it!

Well in good nick they change hands for £5k-£6k ish, depending on condition. Seen a few struggle to sell even for that though.
If its in a spares yard I wouldn't be expecting good condition, engine is good for the limited to 2litre type racing series' though.

I heard it still belongs to the contankerous old geyser who used to own the yard and he wanted 3 bags for it, no dickering. I am pretty sure it has a 'story' to it or has had a nasty major repair. As it was a 4 door, my interest waned completely . Unless its a bag let it rot.

That car has been sat there for 5 years iirc, never moved from the rear of the front shed, has an E34iX alongside.
Ask Ian down there for his honest opinion, and I'd not run the engine either !

I have heard the voice of experience and I will take it on board

Thank you both for your input!

I'm still going to have another look. I've always been a sucker for a hard luck case.

I once bought a 77 320i with a spare engine in the trunk and all the speed holes you could want!

(my first car) I will be more cautious BECAUSE of your input

I'll come back and tell you what happens. ( I have been known to own a 323i Bauer or some other e30 from time to time so don't take it personal that I'm an e21 guy)

Wow you really are a sick tulip. A 4 door turd with no floor and a hedge growing out of it sounds right up your street !
