Hi Im new to the forum so please forgive any ignorance that I may portray. I have been introduced to the E30 scene just recently and want my first car to be an E30!!.. Im 21 years old and need some help on what factors to look out for when buying an E30. Any help/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Engine Size 1.6-2.0, may consider 2.5.

 welcome

a main factor is rust, 2-3k will get you a stunner

if you are considering a 2.0 then you might aswell get a 2.5 as there a lump quicker and not much difference insurance wise

:D

just make sure you check it well for rust. my car is rotten through, its not worth a penny now. other than that look out for the usual stuff.

Can I suggest that at the topic of the forum is a search function. If you type in E30 Buying Guide, you will find pages and pages of really good and precise information about what you should and shouldn't be looking for when buying an E30.

I had a quick look over the website to see if there was already a "put-together complete E30 Buyer's Guide" but without any luck. I think that perhaps this would be a good project for someone who has a few hours on their hands to do. It would be really worthwhile.

Look for rust in the rear wheel arches, by the battery, by the seals. These E30 are teenagers and into their earlly 20's too, so there will be some rust somewhere, unless the rust has already been dealt with properly.

I wish you every luck in finding the E30 of your dreams. :thumb:

Where? Is it a professional publication, or a joint project from the e30zone?

Would be very interested to read it.

Perhaps if it is a published article, we could borrow articles from it!! :winkeye: or at least ask to borrow some info from it without infringing on any copyrights. :thumb:

Here's one that was made earlier.

A buying guide

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ic&t=22543

It specifically mentions sports, but the majority applies to all e30's. If you're not looking at a sport, you'll not need to worry about the bodykit.
