M3 prices ....(again!)

I know it's been discussed in the past about the rising prices of M3's but as I'm selling mine I've been looking on pistonheads to see what the general £££ is and I just cant belive what some are asking!

Besides all the pi55 takers with a "special edition" (ie. evo2/cecotto) asking for £25k for a car with barely less than 100k miles on the clock, there's some dude with a late spec std m3 with 103k miles asking £14750!

Ok it's all original and has many new parts, but thats got to be laughable??

I have mine up on here for £12k and that includes a visually rust free body, Leather evo3 seats, CF DTM airbox, evo3 rear spoiler/CF Flap smoked headlights etc... plus receipts for tons of work done along my ownership AND all the original equipment to revert engine back to STD spec!

Christ if the guy coming to veiw it saturday doesn't buy it I'll be putting mine up on pis(s-take)tonheads for silly money too!

End of rant, Lol. :)

Don't get too excited, i have just bought a standard total history '91 215 car T+T for £3500 ! :D OK , its done 240kms and it needs £1500/£2000 to make it a nice car but no accidents, all reciepts from new with lots of recent big ones.
The market in germany has gone bananas which is driving the uk market as german dealers are coming here for cars with their strong euro. BUT the only cars making the money are nice limited edition cars and mint unmodified standard cars with low mileage. These are now old cars, often driven by undesireables with an ebay account so many are rubbish .
Credit crunch or not , the day of the T+T decent M3 for £5000 are over .
I am hoping for about £8500 when mine is done but who knows i might get greedier ! :D

I've noticed silly prices too.

Me and my tutor seem to always go into this, the outcome is they're going to be going up for a while.

Jamie, your dads car WAS valuable . A UNMODIFIED ceccotto in nogaro silver with extended black leather is a very rare sought after turd :(

At least i got some of the tasty morsels when it was raped and pillaged ! :D

It's never going to be sold, so who cares about the value :)

Still need to post these bits and bobs. Unless I'm working in London anytime soon.

We'll see.

I think the arse will drop out of the market for a while. Asking prices are no indicator that stuff is actually moving on. Maybe asking prices are going up because the sellers are chancing their arm - in need of the big bucks and looking to exploit a market of their own creation?

I hope things stay stable for all our sakes. The way the media would have you believe that we are on the verge of economic breakdown and the end of a civilised society.

Happy days.

Ok I understand the appeal of std original, low milers or special editions.

but the majority of the pistonhead ones are all mid/average milers and still silly money!??

example 1... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/561926.htm nice indeed! but NOT what I'd consider low milage.

Example 2... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/530460.htm again very nice! but Minus the cage mine is just as good, if a little higher miles.

example 3... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/570557.htm this guys on something for sure! loads of new parts, wow you got new brakes, susp and some minor engine parts! What do you expect form an 100k'er??

I'm not getting exited! More cheesed off with this non-sense of over selling of cars.

Mine is up for what I think its worth to me or anyone veiwing. I'm not trying to make a buck and I wont after all i've put in. but thats fine by me!

In my opinion these guys are dreaming , especially the sparcoc0ck with the molested turd with the cage. Sorry mate, people don't pay £18 bags for a trackday c0ck chariot no matter how shiny it is.
It looks to me like people seeing that the market is rising and assuming that means their turd is getting more valuable by the minute.
As ever, condition, mileage, provenance and factory spec is what pulls the big money.

Now where did i put that bmw business cassette player.......... :)

Darren your's looks to be a quality car, with tasteful mods.
I dont think you will be in ownership for much longer some other nut will take it off you.
The price looks to be correct.
If the new owner doesn't want your tat please PM me. I will rape you of your extras.

Lol! Cheers Gaz!

I have ALL the original bits for my car minus seats and wheels which I could pick up for a grand.

The seats I could get the best part of £1500
Airbox and uniQ piggyback ecu £1k
Wheels £500-800.
Evo3 spoiler £200
smoked lights £100

Plus still sell my car for more than £10k!

But fu*k that it's staying as it is as I think it looks and goes just how an M3 should! and i'm sure that for the price i'm asking someone will agree :D

We could do a deal I have the standard interior, if required.

Just sold my smoked rears, grown out of them.

To be honest i think the cult status of the car is possibly at its highest its been and this is an influencing factor with the market.

Things like EVO magazines statement "The best M power car ever" and stuff like the M3 racing heratige are prime examples.

There are some chancers out there though!

I know that I am comitting blasphemy, but these prices do make the M3's rival the 190E Cosworth look mighty tempting. i know this link isn't a prime example but seriously how much would you pay for a similar M3?

Now the poor old Israeli's are back in action the media will be changing tack and the economy woes will be forgotten for a while.

I was in my local BMW dealer today and they are having a sales boom, four new cars yesterday and the place was packed today too. My new car :) was the 190th car this particular 'executive' had sold this year. A rise on his figures from the year before. The local retail centres are queueing out the doors and everyone is spending money. The local NEXT store was besieged on boxing day morning. I'm not denying there is a serious problem with our economy but there are still job vacancies out there and people are still spending money.

The future's not all bad folks.

Unless you live in Gaza!

E30 M3s are going up, sports are going down. I guess the fact that M3s are LHD and recognised outside the UK is going to make them attractive to the eurozone.

Hey Frank,

Darren (Playo) sold the car pretty quickly... Warren from the S14power.com site has the car now and has spent another pretty penny on it with coil overs, etc. Handles and rides real nice now.

Paul.
