Hi All

My Dad is thinking of selling his Black 325i Convertible so I thought I'd post
a topic on here to see what you guys thought of the car and what you think a good sale price would be.

Also we would rather it went to a E30 enthusiast so if anyone is interested in the car please PM me.

Ok

We bought the car from a salvage company in March 2006,
It was a Cat C (not sure if on the register) but only had front bumper and wing damage.
He had the car repaired to a very high standard using all genuine BMW parts and then fitted a very rare Genuine BBS bodykit. The car was then professionally resprayed in the original colour.

He then bought a set of BBS 3 piece alloys costing over £1500 without the tyres and a full Spax suspension kit lowering the car 55/35.

Since owning the car it's only covered about a 1000 miles and the previous owner was a women who owned it for over 10 years.

The car has done 116K & has 6 months Tax & M.O.T till April next year

It has full Black Leather interior in excellent condition, 13 button OBC, Manual gearbox & a Manual black Hood.

Here's some pics, let me know what you think......

i think he is asking advice on price.

Does look like a nice cab, love the kit. Somewhere around the 4k mark? Not sure how much it being a cat 'C would effect the resale?

Yes i agree 4k is a good price, doubt you will get that much as not many people want to spend money due to the credit crunch etc. Ive seen cars which usualy would sell for over 4k with no problem struggle to reach 2k on ebay!! But as they say a cars worth what someone will pay for it.

Good luck with the sale mate hope you get strong money for it as it looks really nice.

Yep showing as a cat c 12/02/06

Wouldnt have taken a lot to do that to be honest as the car would have been 17 years old :)

Lovely car, but Cat C will halve its value.

Insuring will be a bugg*r too. Pre agreed values will be the way forward for this car.

Looks great. Were pictures not posted a few years back?

A cat c WONT half the value of the car imo
If it had a cat c within the first 5-10 years of its life then its not worth much
BUT
The car was 17 year sold and to be honest i have had a car written off with wing and bumper damage and bought the car back for peanuts and replaced the damaged parts myself , The cost of labour was probably more than the parts .
So if the car is 4k worth and your saying half that , Nope :?
A cat c will affect the sale price but not by a great deal tbh , Especially when it was writen off at such a late date .
Just my opinion , Shouldnt you be breast feeding or something anyway

That explains why a CAT C will adversely affect the value of the car. The differences in our opinions. Normal car appraisals are fairly easy to conduct. Our old turds values are highly dependent on what people will offer them. Cat C takes this even further. The value really will be what someone will pay, not what the market equivalent of a straight car (in write off terms) would be.

It'll be worth 2k if someone will part with the cash for a write off, 3k if someone gets their knickers twisted about it.

If I was buying a cat c, I would want to pay well under the odds, to avoid my own exposure to loss.

Insurance wise, it's another point for them to argue with and pay less if it goes to a claim.

No moobs here mate

I suggest you put it on ebay with a reserve and you will get your market value!

If it reaches your reserve your happy and if it dont well you will get an idea of price/value...

gotta be said tho looks very nice and diffrent to most cabs you see

I think it dont really matter about being a cat c, personaly i agree with steve-e30 its an old car so insurance will write it off even if the bumper drops off. As long as the car has no major panel damage etc then its worth around the 4k mark. It wont half its value, the only thing i would be worried about is the fact that people do not wwant to spend money these days so he may not get as much money for it.
The value of the car is what someone is willing to pay for it.
Cat c or not it wont affect the price.

That's the problem though. You buy it for £4k. Say it then gets written off. Your insurance company send you a cheque for £800 as it's Cat C recorded. They are brutal with their valuations on things like this, be under no illusions.

The clue is in the name though. It's "agreed value" not "owner's suggested value". They give a value for the car, you agree to it (or not).
